One of my favorite things to do is watch romantic movies that make me squeal at the TV because of how cute they are. My favorite movies are ones where the main characters are teens, but as long it seems interesting I'll watch it. Below, I have compiled a list of six romantic movies that either made me cry happy tears, sad tears, or a combination of both. I like these movies a lot so you should definitely check them out.
Age of Adaline - (2015)
Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has been 29 years old for almost eighty years. She doesn't know what caused her to stop aging, but she knows that she can't let others discover her secret. She keeps herself from getting too close to others, and it's tough, but she manages. However, en encounter with Ellis Jones (Michael Huisman) forces her to break her own rules.
I enjoyed watching this movie. It made me cry, laugh, and shriek excitedly. It's an amazing movie and I definitely recommend it. 10/10
Divergent - (2014)
This movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic Chicago. The main character, Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley), struggles to find where she fits in. Chicago is split into five factions, each representing a virtue. She receives multiple factions on her aptitude test, meaning she is Divergent. She has to keep her divergence a secret, otherwise she could end up dead.
I know this movie isn't super romantic but I am obsessed with all things Divergent so I listed it. I definitely recommend you watch the movie (preferably after reading the books).
Everything Everything - (2017)
Maddy (Amandla Stenberg) has an illness that keeps her from being able to leave her house. When Olly (Nick Robinson) moves in next door, he becomes interested in Maddy. They become friends and bond over text message. Their friendship quickly blooms into something more.
This movie is so good (though the book is way better)! I recommend you read it and watch the movie! 10/10
If I stay - (2014)
Mia Hall (Chloe Grace Moretz) and her family get into an accident. Mia narrates the movie (and book) while she is in the hospital, unconscious. The movie flashes back to when she first met Adam Wilde (Jamie Blackley), her boyfriend.
This movie is cute and romantic, well, the scenes of her and Adam are anyway. This movie is also sad, but it's good nonetheless. Keep some tissues with you (in case you get something in your eye).
Me Before You - (2016)
Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke) is a ray of sunshine and a unique character. When Louisa's job ends up closing down, she tries to find another job so she can help support her family. She finds a job as a caretaker for a paralyzed man that pays really well. Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), the man she takes care of, gives Louisa a run for her money. Eventually, they warm up to each other and his outlook on life changes because of Louisa's quirkiness.
I loved this movie (and book) so much. It was so cute and romantic. Though there's some sad parts in here, the book is good overall.
The Fault in Our Stars - (2014)
Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) is a cancer patient and ends up falling in love with Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort), a boy from her cancer support group. Hazel and Gus meet at one of their meetings and hit it off quickly.
This movie is cute and romantic, just like the book. Although the ending made me go through half a box of tissues, I think the movie was amazing.
I know that most of these movies are popular so you've probably seen them. If by chance you have not, you should definitely get your hands on them ASAP. FYI, all of the books (except for the first one listed) is based on a novel... I recommend you read the books first so you understand more about the movie. Personally, I think the books are better, but maybe that's just me. ;)
