With the stress of finals right around the corner, I figured a change of scenery to my study sessions would be helpful. Although I'm not a coffee drinker (where are my tea drinkers?), I know the importance of a good cuppa (tea) and an ambient study space. With the stress of finals right around the corner, I figured a change of scenery to my study sessions would be helpful. If you're tired of the same old Starbucks and/or library, try out these coffee shops/cafés around the Alpharetta, Georgia area!

Traditional Coffeehouses

1. Espressos Coffee

Espressos Coffee is a local, independent coffee shop that serves fresh food and fine coffee! The atmosphere is casual and friendly, which is comfortable enough to focus but not starkly quiet. The hip vibe adds to the "café" charm but also provides adequate seating for a study session!

2. Mugs on Milton

Located in the heart of Downtown Alpharetta, Mugs on Milton is a neighborhood coffee shop that doubles as a great study space. It features a quiet yet cozy environment with cute decor as well as fresh pastries and coffee! Personally, I love the quiet study areas in the back because they allow you to move away from the bustle of the coffee shop and focus on the task at hand. Their pastries are also delicious!

Healthy Locations

3. Luv-A-Bowl

Ever tried an açaí bowl? Made with a thick açaí berry smoothie and topped with granola, shredded coconut and fruit, açaí bowls are a healthy snack for any time of day. Luv-A-Bowl specializes in açaí and other fruit bowls, so you definitely want to stop by if you're eating healthy! The café itself is small and quiet, which is perfect for a grind session.

4. Flavor Juicery

Speaking of açaí bowls, Flavor Juicery has a wide range of fruit bowls as well. This organic juice bar also serves cold-pressed juices, protein shakes, smoothies and quick bites! The juices are made with non-GMO ingredients and are acceptable for vegan and vegetarian diets. There is definitely some bustle here; save this spot for a casual study date!

Something A Little Different

5. Greatea

If you're ever in the mood for some bubble tea near Alpharetta, look no further than Greatea! Although it's closer to Johns Creek, the selection of teas and the ambiance makes up for the trip. The menu features high-quality milk teas, fruit teas and other special drinks as well as unique snacks like the "Egglette." The café itself is somewhat small, so plan on an individual study session on the weekends! If you need quality snacks to power through an individual study session, this is the place for you!

6. DaVinci's Donuts

It may not be a traditional "coffee shop," but DaVinci's Donuts is another great place to get some work done. They serve Jittery Joe's Coffee and a wide selection of imaginative donut flavors such as chocolate orange ginger, samoa and maple bacon! DaVinci's Donuts is definitely a more social study spot, so bring a friend!

Have you tried any of these cafés? Which one is your favorite?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
