If you ask anyone from around here, living in upstate New York can sometimes feel like you're on a roller coaster, and not just because we have some awesome amusement parks! Here are 5 things that every upstate New Yorker will tell you is crazy!

1. What is happening outside?

Living in Upstate New York in the spring time has many people wondering what the hell is happening outside! There will be days where its 50 degrees and sunny in the morning, and 23 degrees and snowing by the afternoon. It really makes it hard to know what to wear each day!

2. Where is the closest place to get a garbage plate?

The garbage plate is originally from Rochester, NY, but that doesn't mean people have never heard of it before! People that go to a college in central New York like myself will hear people from Rochester asking where the closest place is to get a garbage plate.

3. Where can we go camping?

There are many places that people can travel to go on adventures in upstate New York, whether someone wants to go hiking and camping in the Adirondacks, or travel to the finger lakes and go boating. There are many places that people seeking adventure can travel to.

4. No I am not from New York City

When traveling to other states, I'm always asked will be asked where I'm from, and when I say New York everyone assumes I mean New York City. There is more than one city in New York ya know!

5. Yes, I have seen a horse and buggy before

While people in upstate New York may not see the Amish or Mennonite community too often, if you go to a college in Central NY like I do, you see them all the time and all over the place!
