I love listening to different music, such as Spanish, some foreign like German and exploring different subgenres of rock, metal, and pop. When you search for different music, you tend to find new and interesting types of music, some are weird, interesting, or gross. During my hunt for different music, I have come across some weird genres and so, here are some that I will share.
1) Gorenoise
A genre made from the combination of goregrind and noise. Goregrind for those that don't know is a subgenre of metal made from grindcore and death metal. As a result, goregrind uses the influence of those two genres and have pitch-shifted vocals and lyrical content of medical procedures, accidents, and gore. Goregrind is as weird as it sounds, featuring vocals that sound like a toilet flushing when in reality is pitch-shifted vocals, drum machine and elements of programmed beats. Songs from this genre tend to be short as in 1 minute or some can even be 30 seconds.
2) Noise
It is what the name of the genre says. Here is an example of the noise genre, specifically harsh noise which is noise but to the extreme as random sounds hit the listener. Hijokaidan is one of the top noise groups in Japan. In the song noises such as distorted vocals are heard in the song and random noises that are loud.
3) Pirate Metal
This is one of the fun sounding metal genre I have listened to. Incorporating pirate lyrical content, catchy hooks and chorus and pirate stage clothes. This song is definitely representing the genre itself by one of the best pirate metal band.
4) Nintendocore
Nintendocore is a genre that has 8-bit music that is reminiscent of the NES and SNES game songs. Using 8-bit music, synthesizers, keyboards and combining it with rock elements such as punk or hardcore, you get this genre of music.
5) Unblack Metal
Unblack metal is the opposite of black metal. For those that don't know black metal is a genre that has satanic, evil lyrics, an infamous genre for being associated with church burnings in Norway during 1991-1995 during the early years of Norwegian black metal. Unblack metal is black metal but without satanic, diabolical evil lyrics. Instead, religious and Bible texts are used for lyrics. It's basically black metal for Christians or for people who don't want the satanical lyrics and themes of black metal.
These were some of the weirdest music genres I have come across. Some of these are interesting like pirate metal, which I enjoyed and to some extent, Nintendocore. I hope that you found these interesting or found it gross.
