To say that 2017 was a great year for music would be an understatement. From Kehlani and Kendrick to Harry Styles, SZA, and Khalid, ears were blessed with some amazing vocals and tracks this year. Being an avid music listener, I decided to reflect and present to you a few -- out of tons -- of my favorite playlists I made this year featuring a lot of music from this year that is essential in my finals survival pack. Maybe you’ll find your absolute favorite song from these playlists or a song that makes you want to jump off a cliff. Either way, click the links and start studyin'.

1. The "Boudoir" Playlist

To all new to the “TTYL” book series era, welcome to Angela’s Boudoir. The “Internet Girls” series by Lauren Myracle is a tell-tale story between the IM chats of three girls from their wee days in high school all the way to their freshman year of college. Through their chats, we learn about their family, friends, drama, and oh-so-typical lust and heartache. This IM chat, labeled as Angela’s Boudoir, was a place to spill your secrets and feelings within the confinements of your computer screen and your best friends. This playlist is what I’d imagine Maddie, Zoe, and Angela would listen to when they hang out which makes it that much better. You can catch artists like Kehlani, Lorde, and the Weeknd lurking on this playlist.

2. The “Winter” Playlist

You know when you’re walking to class when it’s -20 degrees outside and you want to listen to tracks that match the chilly and irritated mood that you’re in? Welcome to the “Winter” playlist. Ranging across the musical spectrum from “Winter” by Khalid to “Nothin’ On You” by Bruno Mars, the “Winter” playlist is, in my opinion, the best playlist to play for all your finals feeling blues. It makes those days seem a little less long when you’re waiting for the 121 campus connector that never seems to show up.

3. The “21st Century” Playlist

Welcome to the 00s and early 10s! If you can actually study listening to upbeat and throwback music, a round of applause for you. We’ve got your Disney, old R&B, Alternative, and my favorite “Misery Business” by Paramore. This playlist is really just to let loose and approach those integral equations you’ve been trying to solve for hours at a happier and less hostile angle. If you’re in the majority like me and get easily distracted and unfocused from music that you haven’t heard in forever, this playlist might not be for your doing, but it’s perfect for a mid-study dance break.

4. The "Mars" Playlist

If anyone knows me they’ll know that Bruno Mars is, without a doubt, my favorite artist. Mars has a craft that makes his music ideal for any situation or mood that you may be in. Sad? Mars. Annoyed? Mars. Hungry? Mars. His voice is distinct and smooth that you can hear a song and know that it’s him even if you weren’t that familiar with his music. Mars is just the best and needs a playlist so everyone, mostly me, can relish in his voice.

5. The “College x Hype” Playlist

Finally, the typical college party playlist with songs that everyone has heard and you’ll hear at least eight times in one night. You got your classics and your new editions that everyone knows the words to and sings at the top of their lungs. Listening to some of these songs are harder when you’re not in a party mood, but when that feeling hits the shots go up. Caution: do not recommend listening to this the day before your finals in the case of alcohol poisoning.

Hopefully, these playlists and songs help you study for finals, walk to class, or even help you get out of bed. One of my favorite things is sharing my musical taste to others and hearing what they're into and who they recommend. Which playlist are you going to use to help you study for finals? Let me know!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
