It’s often said that dogs are considered to be a man’s best friend, and with good reason! Regardless of anything, dogs will always be there to greet you with a wagging tail every time you come. They’re loyal companions who will love you unconditionally and we love them the same way in return. In fact, sometimes we love dogs so much that’d we’d rather spend more time around them than our fellow humankind. So, here’s five signs that maybe you love your dog more than you love people!
1. You’d rather hang out with your pup than your friends
Who needs friends when you have your canine companion? There’s no better company to be around than a dog. After all, dogs don’t get into petty arguments, leave you socially exhausted, or force you to foot the bill at a restaurant because they “forgot their wallet at home”. You’d rather spend an evening with your dog than with a group of people any day.
2. You’re more upset about a dog dying in a movie than a person
When you flick on the 1975 horror classic Jaws for a scary, Friday-night watch, you have no problem seeing person after person get mutilated and eaten by the killer shark. However, the moment you see that black Labrador Retriever disappear into the ocean, it becomes a whole new ball game and suddenly you consider the movie to be truly horrific.
You couldn’t care less about watching people die on the big screen, but the second a dog is the one meeting its end? Forget about it. You’re an absolute mess.
3. You jump at the opportunity to puppysit, but cringe at the opportunity to babysit
Speaking of kids, you probably have all of the possible names picked out for your future dog, but haven’t given a single thought to the name of your future kids. You spend more time planning your future around obtaining and caring for a dog than you do thinking about snot-dripping, drooling, rugrats running around your home. As far as you’re concerned, you’d much rather have a house with three dogs than a house with three kids.
5. You use Instagram to look at dog photos instead of people’s photos
You have an Instagram account but barely even use it for yourself. All of your friends follow you on it, but you hardly bother to follow them back or leave likes on any of their photos. Instead, you follow dozens of accounts all dedicated to pictures of dogs. You couldn’t care less about what Susan is doing on her vacation to Mexico, but you care avidly about what new toy Spot got in the mail today.
Not to mention, you think the dogs have far more flattering photos than any of your friends do, no matter how many filters they apply.
