Two weekends ago, as I was scrolling through Instagram, I came across a startling discovery: Joe Jonas, former lead singer of the Jonas Brothers and forever heartthrob, is now engaged to "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner.

Seeing the news made me feel so old. I remember the days when Joe and Taylor Swift were trading diss tracks and Joe was romancing every pretty blonde on Jonas LA. It reminded me that a lot has changed since the golden age of the late 2000s, so here are just five reminders that the world we lived in from 2005 to 2010 is a different place than the world we live in now.

1. Panic! At The Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" is turning 12 in February.

That’s right; every mid-2000s kid’s favorite pop punk jam is the same age as the average middle schooler. The song remains one of the band’s most popular songs despite how much has changed within the band since its release. Lead singer Brendon Urie may be running Panic! as a solo artist now, but that doesn’t stop him from covering the classic song on his most recent tours.

2. "Hannah Montana" is over longer than it was on TV.

I don’t think that I’ve met anyone who hasn’t seen at least one episode of "Hannah Montana." Everyone knew someone from 2006 to 2011 who was absolutely obsessed with the adventures of part-time pop star, part-time regular high school student Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus). The show ran for five years, which is impressive for Disney Channel, but is now off the air for seven years in January.

3. It is eight years since the Jonas Brothers have released an album.

From 2006 to 2010, the Jonas Brothers dominated the music scene as the biggest boy band at the time. Their sophomore album was called one of the best albums of 2008 by Rolling Stone and they received a Grammy nod for Best New Artist the following year (but lost to Adele). Their third album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" did not receive as much critical acclaim, which is unfortunate because it ended up being the group’s final album as they broke up in 2013. Luckily, as many of us know, you can catch Nick Jonas rocking an incredible solo career nowadays while Joe Jonas is the front man of pop-rock band, DNCE.

4. In 2018, the first Twilight film will be 10-years-old.

In 2008, the Twilight saga was everywhere. Teens and tweens were dying to get a glimpse into the romance of teenage girl, Bella Swan and vampire boy, Edward Cullen. The book series spawned a successful film series that lasted until 2012 and launched the film careers of actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

5. Freddie from "iCarly" is going to be a dad in January.

I was pretty much the biggest "iCarly" fan when I was a kid, so seeing the news made me feel so old. Actor Nathan Kress, best known for playing technical genius Freddie Benson, and his wife London Kress announced that they were expecting a baby girl in January. While the 10-year-old in me still thinks of him as being madly in love with Sam from the show, I am excited for the happy couple.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
