5 Reasons You Should Join Odyssey
The Odyssey Online

Odyssey is a great way to get your voice out there. Actually out there. On the Internet. For everyone to read. Build your writing portfolio for internships and jobs, and work with a great team of creators! Practice with deadlines and experiment with your own writing style. Even if you don't plan on doing anything with writing for your career, it is a great way to express your knowledge in other subjects. Writing is used everywhere no matter who you are or what you do, so it can't hurt to practice.

1. Looks great on a resume

Anything to help you look better than the masses when applying for a job is something worth doing. Not to mention you can get great recommendations from Odyssey Managers at HQ if you strive to be the best you can be as a creator.

2. Being a part of a community

The Odyssey community is awesome for writing and respecting everyone's ideas. It never hurts to have more friends and it is a great way to bounce writing ideas off each other and get feedback on your writing from people who want to help you!

3. Write about anything you want

It is rare to find a platform where you can write anything you want. Odyssey is here to get your voice heard and your ideas shared with your friends and family and everyone on the wide web. Whether it is advice for others or a short story to anything else, Odyssey is here to share it.

4. A club that's not a club

If your schedule is really busy, Odyssey can be done remotely. While it is a club of sorts there is no weekly meeting. You can do it while sitting in your dorm, or while you are eating. While there are meetings, they are there for your benefit and a way to make new friends, and they are much less frequent.

5. There is a huge audience

Although this can be scary at first, there are so many people that read The Odyssey Online articles. There are thousands of communities looking at the articles and millions of viewers of the website. Your impact here is much bigger and better than you realize until you are a creator!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
