Halloween has come and gone and everyone has started singing Christmas carols already.

What happened to Thanksgiving? It’s that holiday that gets stuck between two significant other holidays and gets left behind. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Christmas and it is defiantly a time that should be celebrated, but it also really bothers me that people are so quick to up and forget Thanksgiving.

Everyone forgets about it, even the stores have their Christmas decorations out and have already put away the pretty fall platters and decorations. Yet, we have so many reasons to remember it.

1. Extra time with your family

For many, they look forward to being able to have that extra time with their family and be able to actually be able to sit down and enjoy each other. Catch up. Learn what is going on in their life and enjoy having everyone under one roof.

2. Thanksgiving Break

College students live and breathe for any break that they can get. Even high school students look forward to that extra time they get away from the school work. It doesn’t mean teachers or professors let us go without having to study or do some type of homework, but it is a relief to get a small breather.

3. The Food. More like the feast.

Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, be thankful. But once again Thanksgiving dinner is golden to a college student. There is nothing better than a homemade meal to come home, but coming home at Thanksgiving is coming home to a feast. There is enough food there to feed an army and you will be eating ham and turkey for a week.

4. To Be Thankful

We should be thankful every day. Yet, it’s perfect to set aside a day and some time just to be a little extra thankful. Send up those extra prayers. Thank God for everything that he has given you and even the things he hasn’t because they are still blessings and it all works in his timing. Take the day to send a simple “thank you” to anyone that matters. I promise it will make their day.

5. Football

Whether you like the teams playing or not, it’s fun to pick a team and take a side then scream at the TV with your family while you decide who is going to win this time on Thanksgiving.

So please don’t forget Thanksgiving, Christmas will still be there. I love those Christmas movies and the music and everything that comes with Christmas too but Thanksgiving is worth remembering.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
