A quilt is one of the best beddings anyone could have. They come in different designs and colors making your bedroom colorful and your bed as warm and comfortable as you want it. I'll guide you on how to pick a great quilt.

1. Know the size of your bed

What is the size of the bed you'll be using it on? If it's a king size bed then you probably need to get a super king quilt. This will cover the whole bed comfortably and will look great on your bed. You do not want beddings that are floating in the middle of your bed.

A small size for a big bed would look ridiculous. A very big quilt for a child's bed will sweep the floor and is prone to getting dirty quickly. It could also suffocate the one covered in it especially if it's a baby.

2. Select good quality fabric

This is the most important step in getting a great quilt. The kind of fabric you choose matters a lot. You probably want a fabric that is soft and does not stain easily. You can also pick the fabric according to the feel and texture.

A soft and smooth one will soothe your skin as you sleep therefore giving you comfort. If you live in a place with high temperatures, you do not want one that is too heavy. A heavy fabric is ideal for areas that snow often.

3. Pick a design of your choice

The best thing about quilting is that it's a work of art. It's mainly different patches of fabric stitched together in amazing designs and padded for comfort. You must look for a design that will work for you depending on the kind of bed you want it for.

There are various designs for kids, adults and even different genders. You entirely have the choice on which design you want for which kind of bed. Some are plain, others have patterns and you can choose any that you like.

4. Do you have a theme you want to maintain?

What color scheme is in your bedroom? It is great when you want to maintain the theme in your room that you get a matching quilt. You could also choose the color based on how active you are in cleaning your beddings.

Bright colors get dirty quickly while dull ones could make your bedroom a little boring. Choose the color you want based on your individual taste. You could also get one with a mix of colors if you do not want a plain fabric.

5. What shape is your bed?

Quilts could come in different shapes and sizes. This also depends on what you're looking for. If you sleep on those round cushion beds then you probably need to look for a round-shaped quilt to go with your bed.

Stitching allows for any shapes to be put together. Even if you want a pentagon you'll get one that is stitched in that design. Your needs will dictate how your quilt will look like.

At the end of the day, your personal tastes and preferences are what dictate how your quilt will look and feel. Make sure to pick one that fits your needs perfectly.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
