5 Bands You Need To Start Listening To

Who doesn't love discovering new music? It can get pretty old listening to Taylor Swift and Drake over and over again. It is amazing to branch out out of the usual genre you listen to whether it be pop, rap, country,or whatever your heart desires. Here are 5 rather "alternative-ish" bands you should definitely give a listen to.

1. LANY: This 3 man band is made up of member Paul Jason Klein, Les Priest, and Jake Goss. They are based in Los Angeles and have released 3 EP's so far you can listen to on many streaming services. Their sound is a mix between 80's pop and 90's R&B soul which creates mesmerizing music you are bound to get hooked to. Check out of their hit songs "ILYSB":

2. The Maine: This alternative rock band has been around since 2007 and have creates some great tunes over the years. This 5 man band has released 5 albums along with several EP's in their early years. They are hitting the road to go on "The Lovely, Little, Lonely World Tour" which you should definitely get tickets to (I already did). Check their hit song "English Girls":

3. The Kooks: This British band is making a splash from across the pond here in America. They have been a band since 2004 and released several EP's before their firs album, Inside In/Inside Out in 2006. They have now released 5 albums in total and have been on tour several times. They have similarities to the band Arctic Monkey's so if you like them you should definitely give The Kooks a listen. Here is one of their hit songs "Naive":

4. Beach Weather: This band is made up of Austin Scates, Nick Santino, and Reeve Powers all of which are new to the music scene. They recently released their first EP called "Chit Chat" with some smooth and upbeat indie-vibe tunes. They are actually an opening act for The Maine's tour "The Lovely, Little, Lonely Tour" which is very exciting. Check out their single "New Skin":

5. With Confidence: This Aussie pop punk band has been gaining a lot of popularity here in the US. They were all high school friends who then formed this band back in 2011 and released their first EP "Youth" in 2013. Over the years they have opened up for big names like 5 Seconds of Summer and have been at Warped Tour. They are now opening up for State Champs tour which kicks off soon. Here is one of their hit songs "Voldemort":

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
