Last weekend, I had the opportunity to discover my new favorite city, Amsterdam. Here are a few awesome things to do in order to get a diverse experience.

1. The Heineken Experience

This museum which sits in the original brewery. Heineken is one of the most popular beers worldwide but is very important to the Dutch. You can still find horses pulling around barrels of their beloved beer on the streets and every corner and every restaurant has a sign for it.

Who knew beer could have so much history? They have many sections starting with the history of the Netherlands and the beer, a sports section, a section talking about their impact on the environment and you get to see how beer is made.

Plus 2 free beers at the end, it’s a fun way to kill an hour and a half so why not!

2. Moco Museum

I chose to go to the Moco Museum, because it contains works of my favorite street artist, Banksy. A super amazing place to be if you like his work, but it is also right next to the Van Gough museum for those who are bigger fans of more timeless pieces.

Either way, art is big here so check out at least one of them.

3. Troost

Troost is an off-the-map kind of brewery we discovered from a friend who lives in the Netherlands. They have a variety of good local beers and really good food which is more a cross between Dutch and American style food. This place is super fun because it is a lot less touristy than most restaurants you would normally select.

4. A'DAM Lookout

The A’DAM lookout is rather fun because you have to take a short ferry in order to get there, which is free and runs every 4 minutes. It is 20 something stories up and gives you the most beautiful view of all of Amsterdam. There is also a sky deck, where you can swing off of the building, or an inside lounge where you can have a meal and drink while overlooking this phenomenal city.

5. Pancakes Amsterdam

This was an amazing restaurant with Dutch pancakes, which are as thin as crepes but are cooked with add-ons, such as cheese and ham. They have a lot of great tea, awesome flavored pancakes and more. Super cute restaurant with an awesome view!

I have never seen a more unique, beautiful city with such nice people while getting to experience such fun things.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
