Having to social distance during our 2020 summer may be one of the most difficult things we have been asked to do. Classes have come to an end and all we want to do is go out and enjoy our well-deserved break. As of right now, it is recommended to stay six feet from anyone and travel should be limited to emergency situations only. There goes our nights out on the town with friends from home, day trips to the beach to feel the sand and shells beneath our feet, and the yearly fairs where we'd shovel down extreme amounts of fried foods.
It may seem the summer is nonexistent now, however, there are some things to do that can cause a smile to creep on your face. Spending it alone or not, this summer will in fact be unforgettable.
1. Enjoy a hike or stroll.

Enjoying a nature walk is an easy way to get out of the house. The sound of flowing water while the sun gleams down onto your face can remind you of a walk on the boardwalk. I know there aren't any shops to get those tourist-y shirts on hiking trails, but the blissful peace that comes along with a calm stroll can make you forget about the regulations placed on our summer.
2. Sit around a fire.

If you have the chance to do so, lounge around a fire. I feel this is a necessity to every summer. You can simply feel the warmth engulf your surroundings and enjoy some tunes, or make an evening out of it with hotdogs and s'mores.
3. Take a cool swim.

This seems like a given for any summer, but you'd be surprised how often taking a swim is overlooked. If you have the ability to take a dive in a pool or any safe body of water, use it. Swimming never seems to get boring, and it's an activity that can easily be done alone.
4. Take a trip down memory lane.

We all have those spots we went to countless times as a child. Why not take make it a day to go back and enjoy those places we one day stopped going to? It can be a park you cherished as a kid or an old hill you would roll down when you didn't have a phone to entertain you. You'd be surprised about how many memories arise when taking a peek at those old hangout spots.
5. Make cooking a part of the plan.

There are going to be days where the weather or a mood makes it seem impossible to leave the house. You're going to sit around bored out of your mind with nothing to do. Cooking is always an option, you can make one of your favorite dishes or try out a risky recipe. There is no limit to what you can create.
