Christmas is always a magical time of the year. As we get older, though, Christmas means something different. We look forward to different things. It is no longer about Santa and what kind of cookies we will leave him this year. Nevertheless, there is always something great about Christmas, and that is something that will never change.
1. Homemade meals.
Home made meals are something that we take advantage of when we are younger. But, as we have gone off to college, we've come to realize just how great these meals are. Dining hall food will never compare to the meals that our mom can make.
2. Getting textbooks as gifts.
There is nothing like getting an expensive textbook under the Christmas tree. There is just something about not having to spend my own money on those things that give me a lifetime full of cheer.
3. Peppermint coffee.
When we were younger, we stuck to hot cocoa. Going off to college though, we realized what the best thing in life is: coffee. Since it's Christmas, we have to be festive and drink peppermint coffee at the "adults table."
4. Sleeping in.
Now that we are adults, we don't wake up at the booty crack of dawn to open presents. We get to sleep in until noon because we deserve it.
5. Quality family time.
As children, we may have not actually looked forward to this because we were too busy playing with our new toys. Besides, we saw our family every day, so they can wait, right? Well, now that we are home from college, there is nothing like family time. I love just spending time with my family and watching those Hallmark Christmas movies with the same plot. They will never get old as long as I am watching them with the people I love.
Merry Christmas from one colleg student to another!
