It is now the middle of October, meaning that we are halfway there. It is almost Halloween. When I think of Halloween, I think of scary movies, pumpkins, spiderwebs, haunted houses/mazes, trick or treating, candy and so much more.

My parents, especially my mother, loved to decorate the house for holidays. They did the absolute most for Halloween. We would have everything from tombstones to spiderwebs to the grudge standing in our yard. On top of everything, they had spooky sound effects playing while kids would trick or treat.

Now that I'm not home to enjoy the festivities, I wanted to do some slight aesthetic decorating in my dorm. My roommate and I went to Walmart during the last two or three weeks of September to get some festive fall and Halloween decorations for our room. We got some Halloween lights and the cutest small decorative pumpkins.

We were living the Halloween dream way before October hit. Now that we're approaching the middle of this month, here is a short list of some of my favorite things you can decorate with to feel the Halloween fantasy!

1. Pumpkins

When I think of fall or Halloween, I think of pumpkins. They can set the tone of any space whether they're scary, creative, or cute. You can carve, paint, or just leave them the way they are. Either way, it sets the fall mood.

2. Festive lights

The type of lighting you have can set any ambiance. You could decorate your space with colored lights to convey the holiday you'd like. During Halloween, they sell lights that are spooky shapes and colors.

3. Skeletons and spiders

Something I always see advertised for Halloween is skeletons, bones, spiders, and spiderwebs. You can even throw in bats, cats, and rats into the mix of things. You can make any of these cute, scary, or sophisticated.

4. Mannequins or figures

This is more geared to the outdoor decorations. You can either buy scary mannequins or dress any old doll in white clothing and add anything to it to make it creepy. Anything resembling the grudge, zombies, etc. will definitely elevate your Halloween game, especially if it's animatronic and motion-activated.

5. Tombstones

Tombstones can go inside or outside. It is more aesthetic when they're out indoors, but when they get put outside it can look spooky. All you have to do is put out some random limbs or bones and it will look scary. If it's inside it will be so festive and fun!

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time. I'm not complaining, because I'd rather have a whole week off than three days, but there is a lot of down time. Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.

It's that time of year again- Thanksgiving Break is finally approaching. For college students everywhere, Thanksgiving is a time to relax and not really worry about homework (well, depending on what major you're in). However, going home for Thanksgiving is actually a lot more complicated and stressful than it looks. From traveling, to Thanksgiving in general, the stages of going home can drive students crazy.

Your relationship doesn´t have to be full of exchanges of lavish gifts. You do not have to go on elaborate dates and try crazy things. While those are great for a relationship, there are much simpler ways to ensure a happy and stable union.
