4 Reasons You Should Watch "Stranger Things 2" Right Now

Brb, channeling my inner Eleven.

I'm sure if you've been on any social media lately, you've seen something about the new season of "Stranger Things." Now, if you haven't seen it yet, you may be thinking, "that show looks weird, what's so great about it?" Well, I thought the same thing... until I finally watched for myself.

I had watched season 1 when it first came out last year, and I couldn't get into it or really pay attention. But, when season 2 was released, I figured I'd give the entire series another shot. Let me say, I was not at all disappointed. Here's why:

1. The Cast

Okay, try to tell me the "Stranger Things" kids are not the cutest little angels you've ever seen. Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will are perfect little babies who must be protected at all costs. I can't help smile at Dustin's curly hair or Mike's attitude. Not to mention, how did these kids get so darn good at acting? Amazing.

2. The Relationships

There's quite a few amazing relationships on the show that are so important. First, can we talk about Eleven and Hopper? He basically adopted her as his own daughter and kept her safe. So. Cute. Then, there's Joyce and Bob. Bob is probably the nicest and most pure guy in the world, and he's what Joyce deserves after all she's been through. After going to hell and back to get her son back, a love interest was much needed for her. Moving on, there's Nancy and Jonathan. At first I was a big fan of Nancy and Steve, but Nancy and Jonathan literally fought the Demogorgon together from the very beginning, and we all know he's always been in love with her. Ugh. Lastly, Eleven and Mike. Mike was the only one who took her in during season 1 and she has always trusted him more than anyone. When they danced together at the Snow Ball I was truly shook. Ah, young love.

3. The Plot

Not going to lie, the plot can be confusing at times. But, what other show has a sketchy lab, another dimension, and evil demogorgons? Not to mention the little girl with superpowers and the amazing chief of police. So many amazing things in one show.

4. Joyce Byers

I've always loved Winona Ryder, but in "Stranger Things," she is just on a whole other level. She is the only one who believes that Will is still alive after his "body" was found. Basically, everyone thought she was insane because she was talking to walls and lights, but a mother always knows. She is just the best mom ever and I honestly want her to adopt me. A true queen.

Hopefully, after reading this, you're considering watching "Stranger Things." It is worth every bit of excitement and hype that seems to surround it. I know, if you're not really into science fiction, you may have your doubts. But, I never really have been into that stuff, either, and here I am, obsessed. I guarantee you will not regret putting blood, sweat, and tears (mostly tears) into this show like me and so many others have.

'The Bachelorette' Labeled Virgins As Inferior On National Television, And I'm NOT Here For It

I don't know about you, but I appreciate a guy who is willing to wait.

On July 9th's episode of "The Bachelorette," Colton let the bombshell drop and told Becca that he is a virgin.

There had been much anticipation for this reveal since they had been showing previews of Colton's confession since one of the first episodes of the season.

The entire situation was extremely built up as some horrible announcement that would dramatically alter their relationship and possibly cause Becca to want to send Colton home. Before telling Becca, Colton had talked to the other men about his decision to have this conversation with her.

They all agreed that this would be a major thing to discuss, which I don't disagree with, but several men also made comments about how they couldn't believe that Colton was still a virgin and that they wouldn't want to consider marriage with a woman if they had not already slept together.

Colton decided to talk to Becca about his virginity during their one-on-one date together. He was clearly very nervous. After telling her he was a virgin, "The Bachelorette" shows Becca saying "really?" and then walking away because she needed a few minutes to think about things, leaving Colton alone at the table.

When I first watched this episode I was extremely upset and annoyed with Becca. As a Christian woman, why would this be such a dramatic reveal to her that she felt the need to walk away to consider the situation and her relationship with Colton? Why is his virginity seen as such a bad thing?

When Becca "returned" to the table, Colton begins telling her more about his decision and the reasons why he is still a virgin. It was worded almost as if he were defending himself and his character as to why he has not had sex yet, making it appear as if Becca will think there is something wrong with him because he is not as "experienced."

The show definitely amped up the drama, making Colton's virginity appear to be a huge stumbling block for his relationship with Becca and something that she would seriously have to consider before keeping him around for another week.

In later interviews, Becca reveals that the editors for "The Bachelorette" changed this scene so that it appears as if she walked away when Colton told her he was a virgin, when this is actually not what happened. On her Twitter page, Becca says, "For the record, I think I got up just to go to the bathroom, soooooooo."

The editors who chose to make these changes were clearly just out to make more drama for the season, but I think it is terrible to do so at the cost of making virginity out to be something bad. In an interview with People, Becca says, "To me, virginity is a meaningful thing, and I respect him for holding that so sacred."

Good for you Colton for waiting for sex, even if "The Bachelorette" won't say so. In my opinion, this makes him even more of an attractive partner for having stronger values.

Simple Ways To Obtain a Healthier Lifestyle

Everything is best in moderation.

Since the beginning of the year, I've made it my goal to create a healthier lifestyle for myself. I want to live a long time, and starting healthy habits early in life only sets you up for successful future mental and physical health. Here's a few of the habits I've picked up on over the past few months that have contributed to me living a happier, overall better life.

Drink more water.

Giphy

This may seem like a simple thing to do, but many still neglect to do so. I find that when I consume an ample amount of water in a day, I even feel more energized.

Get more sleep.

Giphy

This goes without saying. Physical function, as well as mental function, improve with getting the recommended amount of sleep. Being a college kid, I know how difficult it can be to do so but do your best. Your body will thank you.

Choose healthier food options.

Giphy

I understand that of course, sometimes healthy food can be exceedingly expensive/hard to find, but when it is an option, choose it. When given the choice between a bag of chips or an apple, choose the latter.

Exercise more.

Giphy

This one's a no-brainer. As important as it is to exercise your mind, it's equally important to exercise your body. Your body is a temple, treat it as so.

Spend less time on Netflix.

Giphy

I love binge-watching my favorite shows as much as the next person, but it's crucial that you don't let it consume your life. Everything's great in moderation, and this includes Netflix.

Spend more time outside.

Giphy

The earth is a beautiful place, and we are so blessed to inhabit it. Get outdoors and enjoy it. Explore!

Get enough "me time".

Giphy

Whatever makes your soul happy, do that. Personally, I like to spend my alone time coloring, or napping. It's entirely up to you!

Maintain the relationships in your life.

Giphy

So often we neglect the people in our lives, maybe not intentionally, but incidentally. Call your grandma, write your best friend a note. Just be sure to remind those you love of how much they mean to you.

Put your phone down.

Giphy

This one's probably the hardest, but I must insist, resist the urge to binge on social media. I find that the more time I spend on my various social media sites like Twitter or Instagram, the more I find myself comparing my life to that of others, which leads to nothing but anxiety and unhappiness. Again, everything is best in moderation.

Overall, do your best. That's all you can ask of yourself.
