It's December. For most people, that means putting up Christmas trees, drinking hot chocolate, and trying to think of the perfect present you could get your loved ones. It's exciting. It's the coziest, most festive way to end the year.

Then there are college students.

Although December does bring with it an air of excitement for college students, whether they're excited to be done with the semester, to go home for real food and the love of their pets, or to graduate, it also brings forth the frigid, desolate wind of finals week. Millions of thoughts race through the minds of college students during finals week. These seem to be the most prevalent ones.

1. I just want to sleep.

2. Why do I even need this credit?

3. I'm just going to drop out.

4. (in regards to high school students) Yeah, go ahead and get excited for winter break, you ungrateful gremlins. You have no idea what you're in for.

5. I wonder what the lowest grade I can get on the final to still pass the class?

6. I should be studying right now.

7. When is this going to be over?

8. Why do I even need this degree?

9. Portfolios will be the death of me.

10. I'm-gonna-die-I'm-gonna-die-I'm-gonna-die

11. What do these notes even mean?

12. Why did I skip that morning class so often?

13. Why am I even in college?

14. Home Sweet Library

15. Laptop, this is a really inconvenient time ton die on me.

16. I'm gonna spend all of the money I don't have on food so I feel better.

17. As if things couldn't get worse, now my skin is breaking out. Great.

18. *trying not to get hysterical* This is fine. It's fine. Everything is fine.

19. My professors are out to get me, I swear.

20. I'm just going to drop out and go live in the mountains.

21. Maybe one failing grade won't kill me.

22. Goodbye chances of getting into graduate school.

23. My worth is not determined by my grades.

24. Okay, but for now, it is.

25. Plenty of famous people dropped out of college; I don't even need this place.

26. I've accepted my fate and have made peace with the fact that I am going to end up homeless and unemployed forever.

27. If I drop out now, I won't be in as much debt as I would be if I finished school.

28. How does anyone pass this class?

29. Maybe if I cry, my teacher will give me a sympathy A.

30. Why didn't I pay attention during this lecture?

31. I'm just going to drown myself in pizza and coffee this week.

32. Just get through this week and it will all be over.

33. Why didn't I appreciate high school more?

34. I just want to ignore this and watch Christmas movies.

35. I'm so stressed out that I'm not even stressed out anymore.

36. Forget about the President's List or the Dean's List--I just want to pass at this point.

37. I can't do this.

38. Yes, I can.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
