Somehow I finished my first year of college. It was no where close to easy and every first year felt the struggles of being, well, freshman. College is said to be an unforgettable experience and my first year fell no where short of that; it was amazing. While reminiscing on the good times, I tend to be laughing at myself. The stupid things I did that gave every upperclassmen the right to call me out for being a freshman, are so stereotypical.

Being the youngest of the flock has been a blessing and a curse. To put it blatantly, freshman year had been a struggle. Most of us found ourselves binge watching Netflix more often then hitting the gym or even worse more often then hitting the books. We found ourselves going through 24 packs of ramen a week and calling home for care packages with real food "please mom." Handling the social aspect of school wasn't easy either. Talking to boys and planning on where to hang out on the weekends became a college-must do. If we can't put words to our Freshman year stories there are at least 29 times "Spongebob" has accurately summed up our year and here they are:

1. The first day of college.

AH it was such a SWEET FREEDOM wasn't it?

2. Realizing you don't know how to do laundry and living away from home isn't as great as it seemed.

The beginning of freshman year was rough for us all.

3. Finding out your neighbors listen to heavy metal the hard way.

4. We all spent a few nights alone in our dorm room wondering when we would make friends or go to parties like normal college kids.

Admit it, you read over your syllabus and hung out in the dorms because you had no plans the first weekend. Admit it.

5. After considering transferring and dropping out, you finally find your friends who make college worth while!

6. Going home on the weekends like:

REAL FOOD, thanks mom!

7. Getting too into themed frat nights.

It took all of us freshman awhile to even know what a frat party was. It's a freshman thing.

8. "I have this really cute friend I want you to meet, he's rushing and he is so cool!"

A lesson learned of freshman year: your friends are usually wrong.

9. Constantly wondering "why am I paying $60,000 a year to be miserable and tired."

10. When the squad links up.

11. Finding the value in the little things.

Being broke has never been so real.

12. When your friends could go out every night of the week while you're drowning in school work.

Shout-out to Calc, Econ and Psychology for being impossible!

13. Finishing your first semester!

14. Forgetting to wear your jacket in the middle of January.

That's so freshman of you, tisk-tisk.

15. "I'm going to get a lot done today."

16. Showering your least favorite professor with hand raises and class participation just in case you end up with a 84.4999 percent.

17. Working hours on a presentation only to forget it all half way through.

18. Learning the hard way that the school's Wi-Fi always fails when you need it most

The best is when the internet decides to stop working during the middle of an online assignment.

19. When a boy tries to impress you by saying "yea I'm a pledge so I'm kind of a big deal"

20. Walking into class showered and ready instead of in the clothes you wore to bed.

21. About two weeks into a new semester and everyone is out of meal swipes and is starving.

22. That one time you had to eat in the dining room alone and almost cried.

Because there is nothing worse than having to eat in alone.

23. Because there is always something better to do than start your research paper.

24. "Here let me hold the door for you prof, Oh Professor what nice pants you have, professor I love accounting, CAN I PLEASE SUBMIT AN EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT, what lovely hair you have Prof."

25. Even at 2 a.m., pizza was always a must.

Whether your friends wanted to walk with you all the way there or not. You know the entire dorm will enjoy your idea of fresh pizza.

26. When your floor holds an ice cream social once a month for no reason at all.

27. Using your roommate and alarms as a wake up call so you don't miss your 8 a.m on Friday.

28. Pure bliss when you finish your last final ...

29. But lots of tears when you realize college is over and you won't see your school friends for months.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
