26 Songs To Fill You With Gratitude For Thanksgiving.

In This Article:

Thanksgiving is often overlooked when it comes to celebrating and part of that reason is the lack of songs. Not many people make music for this holiday; however, there's a lot of songs already out there that can still be great for the occasion. Whether they focus on all the things people can be thankful for or talk more about coming together and spreading love (but not The 'Rona, so please be smarter than the virus this holiday season), this list showcases 26 tunes (to match the date) that you can jam out to while celebrating.

"Beautiful Life"- Ace of Base

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Take a walk in the park when you feel down

There's so many things there that's gonna lift you up

See the nature in bloom, a laughing child

Such a dream, oh oh oh"

Starting off strong with a baton competition staple.

"What a Wonderful World"- Louis Armstrong

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "I see trees of green

Red roses too

I see them bloom

For me and you"

I feel like this was an obvious choice.

"Here and Now"- Kenny Chesney

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Why you think we call the present the present?

'Cause there ain't no better gift than

Here and now"

This one's specifically for my mom. Here you go, mom.

"Blessings"- Lecrae ft. Ty Dolla $ign

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "If I ever took a loss, I learned a lesson

I won't ever think I'm better than the next man"

I've never heard any song quite like this one before.

"Thank You for the Music"- ABBA

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "What would life be?

Without a song or a dance, what are we?"

I can't physically make a music playlist without including ABBA.

"Biscuits"- Kacey Musgraves

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Mend your own fences and own your own crazy

Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy"

Oddly enough, I didn't even pick this one because of the tasty title.

"Good Life"- One Republic

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "When you're happy like a fool

Let it take you over

When everything is out

You gotta take it in"

This one just seems timeless.

"Treat People With Kindness"- Harry Styles

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "I got a good feeling

I'm just takin' it all in

Floatin' up and dreamin'

Droppin' into the deep end"

I had to find a way to include Harry, because it's the law (well, at least my law).

"I'm Good"- The Mowgli's

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "I wanna see another love revolution

Find a way to be a better person

If we come together like we should

We could all be good"

This song title is my answer to about 90% of questions people ask me. It works in a lot of scenarios.

"It Happens"- Sugarland

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Life don't go quite like you planned it

We try so hard to understand it"

I just realized what they're were trying to do here- get it: s**t happens?!?!?

"A Place in this World"- Taylor Swift

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "I'll be strong, I'll be wrong

Oh, but life goes on"

Does anyone else remember the movie Ramona and Beezus, and when Ramona runs away from home, this song is playing? Just me? Okay.

"One Day at a Time"- Gloria Estefan

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "So hop on your feet

Somewhere there's music playing"

I usually skip opening credits but this catchy tune had me listening every time.

"We Don't Know"- The Strumbellas

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Oh, we don't know the roads were heading down

But we all know if we're lost, then we'll find a way

We don't if we leave, will we make it home

But we all know, if there's hope, then we'll be okay"

I really was not expecting such bright colors in this thumbnail for the music video; It doesn't exactly match the vibe of the song.

"Smile"- Katy Perry

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Yeah, I'm thankful

Scratch that, baby, I'm grateful"

Katy looking at that pie is probably a lot of us on Thanksgiving.

"Sunday Best"- Surfaces

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Every day can be a better day, despite the challenge

All you gotta do is leave it better than you found it"

Maybe we should alter the title to Thursday Best just for the special occasion.

"Good Morning"- Max Frost

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Baby, it's a brand new day

Ain't no clouds hanging over me"

This song could just become your wakeup call, honestly.

"That's Life"- Frank Sinatra

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face

I just pick myself up and get back in the race"

Dang, are his eyes blue?!?!?!

"Que Sera Sera"- Doris Day

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Que sera, sera,

Whatever will be, will be

The future's not ours, to see

Que sera, sera"

You know some heard this song for the first time in the movie Heathers; I heard it for the first time on Dancing With the Stars. I don't know what that says about me.

"You Get What You Give"- New Radicals

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "This whole damn world could fall apart

You'll be okay, follow your heart"

Can't help but bop your head to this bop (maybe that's why they're called that).

"Give A Little Bit"- Supertramp

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "There's so much that we need to share

So send a smile, and show you care"

Give a little bit... of your pie to me. My slice was too small.

"Brand New"- Ben Rector

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Like when I close my eyes and don't even care if anyone sees me dancing

Like I can fly, and don't even think of touching the ground"

Wow, I forgot how awesome this song is.

"Have It All"- Jason Mraz

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "And may the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows

And may the road less paved be the road that you follow"

I want to have it all, and by all, I mean, the turkey.

"Give Love"- Andy Grammer ft. LunchMoney Lewis

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "She said that we were blessed by the breath deep inside us"

I know this isn't what they mean, but I give a lot of love to the potatoes on Thanksgiving.

"Mr. Blue Sky"- Electric Light Orchestra

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Hey you with the pretty face

Welcome to the human race

A celebration, Mr. Blue Sky's up there waitin'

And today is the day we've waited for"

If Groot can dance to it, then you can too.

"Hand In My Pocket"- Alanis Morissette

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "And what it all boils down to

Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet"

I don't know about you, but my hand's in the green bean casserole, not my pocket.

"O-o-h Child"- The Five Stairsteps

Lyrics perfect for the Thanksgiving table: "Some day, yeah

We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun"

Oooooh child, you finally reached the end of the list.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
