25 Things I Learned In Belize
Mackenzie Miles

I spend the past week in Belize on a mission trip. I learned a lot, made a lot of friendships, and was reminded to be thankful of what I have."

I have been on a mission trip for a week now in Belmopan, Belize. I have went door to door telling people about God's love and telling them how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus. This past week has been hot, humid, wonderful, funny, and filled with memories! I have met people that turned into family very quickly. The people here are so kind and you can't help but love them! I'm thankful for this past week and the relationships I have made. But here are the many things I learned while in Belmopan, Belize.
1. The people here are so kind and welcoming where ever you go.
2. Children will come up and hug you randomly.
3. There is no such thing as "fast food" everything is home cooked.
4. They don't stop at stop signs or use blinkers.
5. They honk to say hello.
6. They walk everywhere.
7. Creo is easier to understand than you think.
8. It's perfectly normal to walk miles and miles in flip flops.
9. Air conditioning doesn't exist.
10. Cold water has never tasted so good.
11. IT'S SO HUMID!
12. There's more ants in one house then there are people in the state of Texas.
13. Cold showers feel amazing.
14. You don't flush toilet paper.
15. They have to buy minutes for cell phones, there's no unlimited plans.
16. They aren't used to the heat either.....
17. Make-up isn't necessary because you sweat it off anyway.
18. Michael and QJ will make you laugh til your stomach hurts.
19. Everything is half the price it is in America.
20. You learn real quick not to apply lotion...because you'll get slimy when you get sweaty.
21. Wearing your hair down isn't an option because it's soooooo hot.
22. The ice cream isn't as sugary tasting.
23. The ketchup is much sweeter.
24. Noamye, Joselyn and Delcia are the sweetest girls you will ever meet and you won't want to leave them :(
25. They can't clap on beat in a church service...LOL

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
