When driving down the road it is evident that Halloween is quickly approaching. Lawns are littered with small gourds, orange lights, and inflatable ghosts. The seasonal aisles at grocery stores are packed with costumes, pumpkin carving kits, and candy corn. Halloween is an exciting time filled with caramel apples and warm cider but it is also a time to be spooked.
This past week I visited my friends in a nearby apartment. On their fridge boasted a list entitled, “Things That Are Spooky.” I stood in their kitchen and laughed as I read their list of things that spooked them.
Spooky things are not limited to just the month of Halloween, although there is a surge is “Spook-ism” this time of year, feeling inspired from the list that my friends made I decided to compile a list of things that I deem spooky:
- Groufits
- People who walk without swinging their arms
- Socks that are too big
- Pit Bull
- When people have on their read receipts
- Michael Jackson
- Falafels
- Asking a boy to date party
- 4th floor of the Ugli
- Fetty Wap
- Pictures of yourself on Facebook from middle school
- Cantina on a Saturday
- Turning 20
- When you open your camera and its on selfie mode
- Frat basements
- Gauchos
- Sorority rush

- Dogs in Halloween costumes
- Cargo Pants
