Prima Coffee

1. If you didn’t have a caffeine addiction before, you definitely do now

2. You once loved mocha chip, extra whip, fancy Frappuccinos, but now you are a true coffee adult and can’t stand anything too sweet.

3. That being said, you’ve still tested every possibility of flavor combination under the sun while at work.

A latte with hazelnut, Irish cream, and caramel? Sure, let’s try it!

4. You memorize people by their orders, not by their names.

5. You’ve worked rushes so often that you wake up in the middle of the night wondering if you added caramel to that one customer’s order, even though she strictly said “no caramel.”

6. You go to other coffee shops and feel like you’re betraying your own.

7. When drinking coffee with friends, you critique every aspect of the drink while your friends think it’s perfectly fine.

8. You follow more coffee Instagram accounts than actual friends.

9. Waking up super early isn’t the worst when you work at a coffee shop and have a constant supply of coffee.

10. You watch when other baristas make your drink like a hawk.

11. Your hands have become heat resistant from all of the times you’ve accidentally touched the steam wand.

12. You spark up more conversations with those in the service industry because you sympathize with their rude typical customers.

13. Your at-home brewing skills have increased dramatically.

You’re far beyond just pressing the button on the Keurig.

14. At other cafes, you never ask for anything that’s on the menu anymore.

15. You tip very generously to other baristas.

16. You pay special attention to the aesthetics of other coffee shops.

17. Your personal music playlists have grown exponentially from the hours of working with some of the best background tunes.

18. You’ve been hit on while working at a coffee shop more times than any other type of job you’ve ever had.

19. Your strongest art form is latte art.

20. When ordering at other cafes, you always ask how fresh the pot of coffee is.

21. The smell of coffee has become your perfume/cologne.

22. You know not to wear your best clothes to work.

23. You have resilience for “real jobs” because all you want to do is work in a coffee shop your entire life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
