With a milestone birthday fast approaching, 21 thoughts that are bound to cross your mind, more than once.

1. Does anyone think this will actually be my first drink?

Sorry to burst your bubbles.

2. How much time will pass before I stop getting nervous in the liquor store?

Accurate depiction of how I feel.

3. I'm like a real adult now -- sort of.

Right?

4. Ugh, do people really not go out to the bars until that late?

Yeah, it's my bedtime.

5. Where do people get the money for all those drinks?

6. Nothing says, "my first time in a bar" like a sequined dress.

7. And a "21 and hot buy me a shot" button.

8. And a tiara. And sash.

Overkill?

9. Why can't more of my friends be 21 to join me at my first bar outing?

But I'll get to be there for their big days.

10. I hope the Uber driver is OK with stopping for snacks.

11. What's going to be my go-to drink?

12. Speaking of which, I probably have to stop ordering that gross drink I love because it makes me obviously underage?

Red wine and Coke, I'm looking at you.

13. Will I meet bar bathroom BFFs who I'll compliment and never see again?

Or does that just happen in movies?

14. Will I turn in my crochet hook for a shot glass on Friday nights?

Probably, definitely, not.

15. Do I have to upgrade my cheap alcohol for the good stuff as an "adult?"

16. Ah, almost forgot this birthday also means a trip to the DMV.

Significantly less exciting.

17. Wine. Just wine.

18. What if I order a gross drink unknowingly?

Ten dollars down the drain.

19. Will I go to classy brewery tours and wine tastings all the time now?

20. Am I really this old?

21. What will my first legal drink be?

Suggestions appreciated.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
