Celebrate good times come on! What better way to celebrate my entrance into real adulthood than with my faithful Odyssey readers (I know you're out there and I see you and I love you). In honor of my 21st birthday, here are 21 facts about your favorite Odyssey writer!

1. My name is Haley Walker (seriously, it’s Haley Walker. I can’t remember the last time someone called me by just my first name) and I am from Frisco, Texas! Dallas forever!

2. I am a Communication Major with a Sociology minor at Texas A&M University, hopefully graduating spring of 2020. Just trying to make it out alive, honestly.

3. My favorite thing in the whole world is live music. I LOVE concerts. They are where I feel most alive and most myself.

4. I want to be a music journalist when i grow up.  Music and writing are the two loves of my life and I hope I can combine them forever. Music has everything to offer.

5. I physically cannot consume enough coffee. Am I strong enough to admit I have an addiction? Yes. Am i going to take steps towards recovery? No. Absolutely not.

6. My biggest pet peeve is reckless driving. If you put my life in danger I WILL honk my horn, guaranteed. I’m seriously terrified of car accidents.

7. I am a winter gal through and through. My ideal weather is like 30 degrees, no joke.

8. My favorite food is breakfast food. I think this speaks for itself. Why would you choose anything else?

9. I am literally obsessed to the max with Christmas. It is the best time of the year and the best holiday. Joy to the world!

10. My favorite TV show is 'Parks and Rec'. I really want to be Leslie but deep down I know I’m April. Sigh.

11. I love my family more than absolutely anything and I would die for my baby brother. Using the word “baby” loosely considering his shoe size is a 14 and he towers over me like a skyscraper.

12. I love working out. What can I say? I just want to ensure as many arm wrestle wins as possible.

13. I love Jesus! With my whole being! I am who I am because of Him and I have made it to where I am by His grace alone.

14. My favorite artist is Jack Antonoff, if you know me you know I’m obsessed with 'Bleachers'. If you feel inclined, listen to 'Rollercoaster'. It’s my favorite song ever.

15. My all-time favorite color is olive green. I love soft, warm colors, right now my go-to color is deep orange or mauve.

16. I love enjoying the peaceful little things: candles, albums on vinyl, plants, Christmas lights, handwritten letters, fuzzy socks. Sometimes simplicity is key. It doesn’t take much to make my day.

17. I love my dog, she’s insane and it inspires me. Her middle name isn’t Beyoncé for nothing.

18. My most frequent meal is easily pizza. I definitely eat it more than once a week and I’m not even embarrassed about this honestly.

19. My favorite places to eat in College Station are 'Fuego' and 'The Stella Café'. Queso is a must and 'Fuego' has the best of all time, no wiggle room on that one.

20. I play the bassoon in Texas A&M’s symphonic band!! I’ve been a band nerd for as long as I can remember (since the 6th grade to be exact) and I can’t really imagine ever giving it up for good. It’s ingrained in me deeply.

21. Upon being asked, I would say my best quality is my wit and humor. I like to think I’m funny. People laughing at my jokes and using a megaphone are probably tied for my biggest power trips.

I hope I feel more like a friend and less like a weird blogger you follow on social media! Eat a cupcake for me after you read this (or a donut, my favorite sweet treat), the calories don't count because it's my birthday!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
