Okay ladies and gents, I get that we can be a little dramatic and sometimes it's comical… But it's four weeks into 2019, and just because of a breakdown or maybe even two doesn't mean this can't be your year.

There are a lot of hiccups that come and go throughout the year. Hence the saying, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

A lot of the struggles that we face aren't permanent and aren't life-altering. So why act like they are when one thing goes wrong in 2019? I think 2019 is the year we all realize there's something bigger in the works when not everything goes our way.

No year is perfect, and some are gonna be harder than others. But again, that doesn't mean it can't be your year because it got hard.

I can't think of one remarkable person who hasn't faced hardship, and for good reason. A lot of times, what makes people stand out or important is the things they accomplished while at their worst or in difficult times.

People have also altered their lives based on bad situations and made their lives 100 times better, helping both themselves and others in the process. For example, people with illnesses who survive and go on to help others with the same illness.

Regardless of what happens in between 2019 and 2020, DO NOT let the first month depict how the rest of the year will go. Again, I get it. It's funny when we are kinda dramatic, but I also know that smalls hiccups are not going to define your whole year…especially when it's only four weeks into the new year.

There's so much negativity that goes on. So why be a Negative Ned about the little things that definitely aren't going to ruin your year, when you can be realistic and know that your year can still be super bomb? After all, you have 11 months left!!

I'm just sayin'.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
