Good Housekeeping

This fall, pretty much every trend is natural. The hair is no exception to that rule! Just like this fall's make up trends, the hair trends are perfect for us lazy girls! From color to cutting, to styling every day, this fall is about embracing ad loving what you have! Thanks there, body positivity movement! You've made it possible for us normal girls to feel pretty whether we go crazy on our hair and make up or not! As a cosmetologist, I'm thrilled that we've gotten to a place trend wise where we don't have to alter our being to fit in the status quo. All hair is beautiful, and this year is all about embracing every last bit of it!

Hair Styling: First things first, styling is awesome this year. I feel like we're back in the 70's with the natural fros and the sleek straight hair.

If you have curls, this trend is great! Long gone are the days of getting up early to straighten your curls out. And you no longer have to pray there is little humidity! Your curls are welcomed and loved!! This season, it's all about some shapely curls! The bigger the hair, the closer to Heaven! Top stylists are encouraging you to pick your curls out to create a triangle or circle even. Make a shape out of your curls! Embrace the mane! Curls are beautiful!

Sometimes you need some good product to define those curls without getting too crunchy. That's where Velvet Gelatin by Redken comes in! Its a gel that does not get crunchy. So pretty much a dream come true. It's $19.50 and worth every penny!!

If you have naturally straight hair, embrace the sleek! Shapes are still in for you ladies as well. Make the hair follow a straight line, style it up nice and sleek, or even accentuate the texture by creating a shape! straight down is very in style this season. Dried naturally, and brought down around your face is ideal. But if you are like me, and the idea of hair sitting on your neck makes you itch, a high pony is beautiful this season.

To help you achieve your sleek, smooth style, try using Super Skinny Serum by Paul Mitchell. It is a silicone based serum instead of an oil based serum, so it keeps the hair shiny and smooth instead of making you look like a grease pit. The travel sizes are only $5.99! You cant beat that! and I promise that you don't even need a whole pump of the product! A little bit goes a long way!

Hair Cuts: It's all about texture this year! That could be achieved by accenting the weight of the hair, or layering the mess out of it! There's also a couple thing coming back this fall that I'm very ecited about!

Crop Cuts are in! In the past, a crop describes a pixie, this year is a little different. A crop refers to a blunt cut such as a bob. Selena Gomez has been known to rock her crop! The hair is blunt, and probably cut dry. There are no layers, so all of the weight falls to the ends of the hair. This gives a heavy texture to the cut. And it is super cute this year!

Here's the big news........ THE SHAG IS BACK!!! Honestly, I love layers. I don't think I could go without them. So this hair cut is like a dream come true for me! This cut is the modern day Farrah Faucet. Or the updated Christmas tree layered cut. It includes some amazing face framing that softens the chin and jaw line like crazy! It also adds TONS of volume in the crown. This hair cut is great for anyone who has that thin, fine hair. If you're bored with your current cut, and you're tired of having limp hair, this cut is perf for you! Julianne Hough has been known to have these really sexy layers!

Lastly, Bangs are upper in this season! Top stylists are saying that the bangs should be skimming the lashes, so slightly long. They should also be more textured than the bangs of the past! The more texture the better! think very Kerry Washington! The bonus for having bangs? You wont have to worry about getting your eye brows done as often. For real, when I was in beauty school we had one teacher who had these really sexy, really heavy bangs. She lifted them up one day to show me why... She never had to do her brows if thy were covered! As no shave November is coming upon us, I know you'll want to skip some of your waxing too. Check out these B-E-A-UTIFUL bangs that I know you'll be wanting this fall!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
