20 Things I am Thankful For Right About Now

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I sat down and tried to think of all of the things in my life that are going just how I would like them to.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner and stress levels for many at an all-time high, it is important to take a moment to step back and appreciate all that is around you! This list may only be 20, but so many things in my life right now deserve significant appreciation.

1. The weather in High Point, NC is perfection right now

It's sweatshirt weather baby and I am so happy about it. The leaves are turning colors and my wardrobe is quickly switching over to boots, sweaters, and vests. Oh my!

2. Roommates who reinforce my alarm...

Midterm season is the worst, so sleep has quickly fallen low on my priority list. However, I happened to have been blessed with the best roommates who make waking up in the morning a tad bit easier.

3. Iced Vanilla Chai Latte's from Starbucks

Since I am not a huge coffee lover but have been needing a little extra kick to help out with my homework recently, I have discovered this amazing drink that is refreshing and energizing.

4. Mercy Hill Church

I have been so fortunate to have discovered the BEST church around. Sometimes an hour away from the stress of school is exactly what you need.

5. Teachers who cancel class

I don't think there is anything out there that quite beats the feeling of waking up to an email that your teacher has canceled class for the day. Time for a little extra sleep...

6. My rain jacket and rain boots

Before this school year, I didn't really own a pair of rain boots that were my own, and I had only one rain jacket that has been around for years. So this year I feel quite fortunate to be rocking my own rainy-day gear, especially on these last few rainy fall days.

7. My sorority big (and the rest of the family)

Sorority life isn't for everyone, which is totally okay! However, for me, I absolutely have loved getting to know everyone in my pledge class and now my big and grand big as well. I know I may be a tad bit biased, but I have the best big of all time.

8. Having a roommate who loves all of the same foods as me

For pretty much all of my life, I have been told that I am the world's pickiest eater and that I really need to change my ways... but it turns out my roommate is a HUGE fan of tacos (my favorite food), she orders chicken tenders with fries at every restaurant (me too), and that she could single-handedly finish a carton of goldfish (the best snack of all time).

9. Collision

I have recently joined my school's worship band titled Collision. We perform on Wednesdays at the chapel and it has been such a fun way to get involved and sing a little every now and then.

10. Are You The One?

Probably one of the more trashy reality shows to exist on TV right now, but sometimes you just need a little guilty pleasure to get you through the week.

11. Care Packages

This week, my mom sent me my first care package filled with my favorite snacks, gum, chapstick, and magazines. Somehow she knew this was exactly what I needed right now. Thanks, mom!

12. The Farmer's Market bringing back cake batter froyo...

Farmer's Market is everybody's favorite place to eat on campus, partially because it is a regular meal swipe, but also partially because it has an abundance of froyo flavors and toppings every day. Luckily, after a two-week break, they brought back my personal favorite, cake batter.

13. Fuzzy Socks

With the leaves changing colors and the temperatures dropping, I am so happy to have a few of my favorite pairs of fuzzy socks with me at school.

14. Friends from home and family who ask me how I am doing

It means so much to me that the people in my life who are hundreds of miles away from me still take time out of their days to ask me how I am doing. I appreciate you all so much!

15. High Point University and the education I am receiving here

Obviously, sometimes it is easy to want to throw in the towel on the papers, tests, and homework assignments that you are being bombarded with, but at the end of the day I am truly so thankful for this incredible school and the person it is helping me to become.

16. The employees of the C-Store and The Cafe who say hi to me every time I come in

Although this may seem small, sometimes someone just saying hi to you on a bad day really means so much!

17. Dance Parties

My roommates LOVE dance parties and it makes my heart so happy. Camp Rock and High School Musical are definitely some of our favorites.

18. Movie Nights

With Halloween season just ending, our suite, as well as our next door neighbors, have spent several nights binge watching all of our favorite scary movies.

19. Jamba Juice

I never had Jamba Juice before I came to High Point, but I feel quite fortunate to have one located directly on our campus. You should probably know, Caribbean Passion is my personal fav.

20. The fact that I get to go home in less than 2 weeks and see all of my family and friends

I can't contain my excitement for this. I'm so ready to be home and see everyone again!

When your days are feeling tedious and stressful, try to take a moment and realize all in your life that is good. I promise you there is so much to be thankful for!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
