1. Pets.

I have been living with my betta fish and my cat this past semester, as well as being able to visit my dogs who live with my mom. Pets have been a constant in my life.

2. Bullet Journaling.

This crazy idea of mine to start a bullet journal back in May has really turned out better than I ever could have expected. It's really amazing to have everything set up how I need it to be.

3. Friends.

I know I've probably been driving my friends up the wall with all of my pre-med questions, but they are all truly amazing.

4. Family.

I have seen my family more this semester than I have any semester to date, and I think it has been so helpful in keeping perspective as life get busy.

5. Campus Ministry.

Since January, I've been visiting my school's campus ministry office pretty regularly, and it has helped a lot. Not just with my spirituality, but with providing some much needed laughter. All of the campus ministry workers are giant goofballs, and that's why I keep going back.

6. Rome.

This past summer, I spent 6 weeks in Rome. I met some of the most amazing people, and travelled so much. I went to Florence alone and just pondered life for a day. Studying in Rome taught me so much, and I don't think I'm likely to forget Rome's lessons any time soon.

7. Childhood Movies.

Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus, as well as the Cheetah Girls and High Musical, have reminded me that my life doesn't need to be as serious as I make it. Rewatching these movies definitely helped to relieve my stress at times that I was over-stressed for nothing.

8. Cinema Sins.

This YouTube channel has helped me to watch so many movies without actually having to watch them. "No movie is without sin" and these videos, while very critical, are extremely entertaining.

9. Retreats.

I am a self-proclaimed "retreat junkie." I've been on 3 retreats this year, and I'm going on another one in a few months.

10. Broadway Musicals.

I've been doing musicals since I was 10. College has been the only period of time where I haven't done one or two shows a year. But the musical soundtracks, vlogs, etc. that are online continue to grow my love of musical theatre. I also always visit my high school for the musicals they do every semester.

11. Indian Cuisine.

My family has been making Indian curries since I was 10 or 11, and this year, I've been really broadening my horizons in terms of the Indian foods that I've bee trying.

12. Snow.

I love snow.

13. The Lake.

Lake Michigan is right next to my campus. I just get to sit right by it all the time, and I chill on the beach. There's nothing more calming for me than sitting on the beach.

14. Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

I've always loved Pride and Prejudice. When I found the modernization of the novel, I was even more excited, as it made the story even more relatable. Also the actors in it are phenomenal.

15. Odyssey

I've always loved writing, but never had an outlet for it until I joined the Odyssey.

16. House Hunting.

While buying a house is a very stressful thing, house hunting is always a fun thing for me, as I just get to spend quality time with my family.

17. Journaling.

Different from bullet journaling, I also just write about my days. Sometimes I use my journaling as prayers, sometimes I don't. Either way though, journaling really puts my mind at ease.

18. Choir.

I love singing. College was the first time in over 12 years that I wasn't a part of some singing group. So joining choir last semester was a Godsend. Singing for an hour twice a week helps to recenter me.

19. ResLife.

While being an RA is not always rainbows and butterflies, I really appreciate all of the relationships that I've formed through the job. Being recognized for my hard work also is very rewarding.

20. Holidays.

I love the holidays. It's always hard because my family can't be altogether on the main holidays, but it's always amazing to see how kind and generous people get this time of year.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
