1.Rosie and The Originals - Angel Baby (1960)
Angel Baby is quite possibly one of my all time favorite 1960’s songs. Rosie’s voice is quite comforting and of course the only thing I want to do when I hear this song is slow dance with the love of my life.
This song reassures your partner that “no one could love you like I do” and that “it’s just like heaven being here with you”, for most these are sappy cliche lyrics but they sound different when two people are in love.
Angel Baby is my number one 1960’s love song that I highly recommend you listen to.
2.The Temptations- My Girl (1965)
My Girl. The Temptations are smooth and coordinated. Personally it makes me blush when this song is played. Even if you are single this song only points out how your partner should feel towards you.
The opening lyric is “I've got sunshine on a cloudy day” yes referring to my girl, even with clouds in the air my girl is truly that ray of sunshine that brightens up the day.
Line by line the lyrics become even more heartwarming. If you truly want to make any girl smile this song will do just that.
3.Paul Anka - Put Your Head On My Shoulder (1959)
Put Your Head On My Shoulder , okay I’m cheating here but it was impossible for me to leave this beautiful song off the list. Paul Anka is beyond charming and the way he sings this song only adds to that charm.
The lyrics encourage you to “put your head on my shoulder, hold me in your arms, baby. Squeeze me oh so tight” basically how everyone whose in love wants to feel. It’s this innocent act of intimacy that holds security and truly is beautiful.
This song is perfect to play while you are both side by side or even slow dancing because it’s a sense of love and protection.
4.Ben E King- Stand By Me (1961)
Stand By Me is truly wonderful. Before this song was remade by Prince Royce, Ben E. King touched our hearts with it first. The title is well directed and all he asks from his partner is to Stand by me.
Ben E. King beautifully sings “No I won’t be afraid, just as you stand, stand by me” the power of love come help overcome any and all fears. This song also reminds those in a relationship that as long as you stand with one another nothing can get your way.
5. Ritchie Valens - We Belong Together (1958)
We Belong Together the title of this song says it all. The lyrics mixed in with the instrumentals make this song perfect for playing for your partner.
For the most part, a kiss can go a long way. Valen sings “Your lips belong to me” meaning that no one else can enjoy the sweet kisses you give.
My one drawback is that this song is pretty short but that doesn’t stop me from putting it on replay.
6.Paul Anka - Puppy Love (1960)
Puppy Love, Paul Anka does it again. This song expresses how it is hard for some people to accept those who are younger than 17 to know what love is.
Oh, young love. Anka asks “How can I ever tell them? This is not a puppy love” it can be extremely difficult to be in love at such a young age without people trying to break the two apart.
7.Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love (1961)
Can't Help Falling In Love. I’m 99% sure this song will be the song I walk down the aisle in. Also who doesn’t love Elvis. Many people have done covers of this song but the King is truly the one you have to listen to.
This song tells us how hard it is not to fall in love so fast sometimes. The opening lyric is “wise men say only fools rush in, but I can’t help falling in love with you” being a hopeless romantic myself I can understand that love does not have a timer.
No one can tell you if your love in real or not only you determine that.
