We, as Fishers natives, are so privileged because we get to call our home "the best place to live in 2017," according to Money Magazine. If you grew up in Fishers, Indiana with the current generation, then you can relate to many of the following.

1. Buffalo Wild Wings and Steak and Shake were the hangout spots after sporting events. It sounded like a great idea, but it took an eternity for food...every...time.

2. You've walked around Hamilton Town Center to pass the time.

3. Formally known as Klipsch, you know the spot in the lawn where the teenagers from Fishers hang out.

4. Fridays were dedicated to the football games. There was nothing better than cheering on your friends under the lights. They were probably some of your favorite memories.

5, You bled royal blue or tiger red. And yes, the rivalry was real.

6. You've been to Geist's firework display. If you've not seen the fireworks, then you've been boating on Geist.

7. You believe Handel's is worth waiting in line for.

8.You constantly wonder why it took this long for a Portillos. Like yes, finally. Fishers needed cake shakes.

9. You went on your senior year spring break with your friends. It's usually a tradition for the high school students to go somewhere warm like Florida and Mexico or even the Dominican Republic.

10. If you went to Fishers High School, you put the headband with your graduation year hanging from the rearview mirror in your car. If you went to Hamilton Southeastern, you wore the gold crowns.

11. In junior high, you socialized in the grassy area by the concession stand during football games.

12. You went to Big Apple Bagels with friends in the morning before school meetings and finals.

13. You went to the Headless Horseman as a kid at Connor Prairie for Halloween, and you took your car through the Reynolds Lights during Christmas.

14. You've been to Flat Fork Creek Park. Whether you're hiking, dog walking, or hammocking, this was the perfect spot.

15. "Downtown" Fishers was once the Nickel Plate (home of the best chicken fingers) and a few other restaurants. The parking garages didn't exist, and there was once not a need for them.

16. You enjoyed the Fishers Freedom Festival or even got to participate in the parade.

17. Sahm's Restaurant was at the corner of Allisonville Road and 116th street. Back in the good ole days, CVS hadn't taken that spot.

There are so many other places and events that we remember about our hometown. Fishers has industrialized so much over our time. Although the population continues to grow, it still feels like you can't go out without running into someone. We can complain about being bored, about the traffic and about the town, but we are lucky to of grown up in such a prosperous place. Fishers will always be the place of so many memories close to our hearts. No matter where we are now, we can all agree that Fishers is a feeling of home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
