He Will Be Our Peace

I'm not going to lie, college is hard, and it is stressful, and oftentimes it's difficult to balance all the craziness. But let me tell you, God is good and He has a plan for you, whether or not you know it yet. As finals season starts to approach and we begin to wonder why we ever joined this crazy thing called college, remember that you are not alone and that God will get you through any obstacle thrown your way. In the next few weeks, between the early morning 8ams and the late night study sessions, if you need peace, reassurance, God, or guidance, look to these 16 verses.

When You Need Peace

"Humble yourselves, therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may lift you up. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7)

"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10)

"Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly" (Micah 6:8)

"As I have loved you, love one another" (John 13:34)

"He will be our peace" (Micah 5:5)

When You Need Reasurance

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5)

"God is within her, she will not fail" (Psalm 46:5)

"If God is all you have, you have all you need" (John 14:8)

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight" (1 Peter 3:3-4)

When You Need God

"The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe"(Proverbs 18:10)

"I took my troubles to the LORD; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer"(Psalm 120:1)

"When I am faithless, You are faithful" (2 Timothy 2:13)

"And when I wake up, You are still with me" (Psalm 139:18)

When You Need Guidance

"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:15-16)

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others" (Philippians 2:3-4)

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
