Okay look, we all have awful days and crappy things happen. It's life, it's college, but I don't think people realize how much music can counteract your shitty mood in seconds.
You can go from thinking that your world is about to crash and burn to not really caring about anything except the music in your ears and the pumpkin spice latte you're going to buy yourself in an hour as a pick-me-up.
So, for those terrible days, here are 17 songs that'll pick you back up when you feel like trash (and honestly, some that you've probably never heard of):
1. Jenny - WALKTHEMOON
This was one of the first bands that I found when I finally made the graceful transition out of my screamo-emo-I-shop-at-Hot-Topic phase. This song never fails to just make me smile.
2. Sour Patch Kids - Bryce Vine
My best friend showed me this during the Shippensburg summer party, and it's been played nearly daily ever since on my Spotify. I don't think Bryce Vine is very well-known, but I feel like he really should be.
3. Doubt It - Kyle
Kyle is getting more known in the music industry, and it's such a blessing. His lyrics have such an "IDGAF" attitude that I can't get enough of him.
4. wish u the best - blackbear
He's so beautiful.
5. do re mi - blackbear
He's probably my future husband.
6. Helena Beat - Foster the People
Foster the People is such a crowd-favorite band, but their music is so much more than "Pumped Up Kicks." They have a really unique style and deserve more credit than they're given.
7. If You Say So - Vinyl Theatre
Vinyl Theatre is not a super common band, as far as I know, but much like any other artist I listen to I'm happy about that cause I can't handle other bands.
8. The Ghosts of Beverly Drive - Death Cab For Cutie
I think that everyone knows "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," but his other work is so under-appreciated. Give this artist the love he deserves and go check out this song.
9. Strong As An Oak - Watsky
Watsky. I don't have the words to describe Watsky. He does spoken-word poetry as well as rap, and he's been one of the most played artists in my iTunes library since I was in high school.
10. Simple As... - Kid Cudi
Everyone and their brother knows Kid Cudi. He's the number-one rapper that makes you think, but also makes you feel like you can conquer the world.
11. Take Me Up - Coleman Hell
Call me lame, but I lip sync this song a lot on my Snapchat. The beat is fresh as hell, and his voice is mesmerizing.
12. Fame Is For Assholes (Ft. Chiddy) - Hoodie Allen
This song is so humbling, and Hoodie Allen became a crowd-favorite years ago. I still hear this song played at parties, and it makes me so happy.
13. Sleepyhead - Passion Pit
I have the album with this song on vinyl, and I've played it so much that the edges of the cover are slowly starting to get worn out. Passion Pit is such a wonderful band; I found them in middle school, and I still appreciate them years later.
14. Straightjacket - Quinn XCII
Quinn XCII is a recent find of mine. I adore the way he writes, and he's under-appreciated in mainstream media. I can't wait until he gets his music out there more.
15. Woke The F*ck Up - Jon Bellion
Jon Bellion is another recent find of mine, and I've been obsessed ever since. He talks about love in such a casual way, and I love it so much.
16. Firealarm - Castlecomer
I'm safely going to assume that you don't know this song because I found it by accident one night that I was up until four in the morning working on Economics, but give it a listen and enjoy, you're going to love.
That's all I have for your next feel-good playlist, but there are so many more amazing songs out there to discover and appreciate. I hope that you give some of these a listen, and they end up cycling into your daily playlist like they have into mine over time. Enjoy, y'all!
