16 Harry Potter Quotes From the Books and Movies That Changed My Life

In This Article:

I know I'm not the only one who grew up reading the Harry Potter books and then watching all the movies up until the end. Anytime I'm in need of cheering up I will still go and binge watch all 8 movies until I'm crying wishing it had never ended but feeling extremely nostalgic . I grew up watching and reading this story and I've learned a lot of lessons about life, love, friendship and family from the series and I keep learning new things everyday from those books. However, 16 quotes from both the books and the movies have always stood out to me.

"The things we lose have a way of coming back to use in the end, if not always in the way we expect." - Luna Lovegood

Even though her peers called her Looney, Luna Lovegood always had wise quotes to live by, this being one of them.

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." - Albus Dumbledore

I've always enjoyed this quote for the sole purpose of the fact that the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite movie. But also because living with depression, this quote reminds that even though my depression can put me in a dark place that I can still be happy.

"Anything's possible if you've got enough nerve." -Ginny Weasley

This is one of my all time favorite quotes from a woman in Harry Potter. Ginny Weasley was always a badass to live by, especially in the books. This quote is underrated and I wish it would've been used in the films.

"Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving." - Kingsley Shacklebolt

Another underrated quote AND character mainly only apart of the books. As a nurse I love this quote because I have learned to love everyone and care for everyone because no matter what every life is worth saving.

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." -Fred and George Weasley

Another quote from my favorite movie and my favorite twins.

"Of course, it's happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it's not real?"- Albus Dumbledore

Dumbledore has always been a wise fictional character to look up too. This quote always spoke wonders to me as someone who is avid day dreamer.

"Don't let the muggles get you down." - Ron Weasley

Even if Ron Weasley has the emotional range of a teaspoon, he was always a good friend to Harry. This quote always reminds me that even when people say the rudest things to me that I shouldn't let dumb muggles get me down.

"You're just as sane as I am." - Luna Lovegood

You know how many times I've actually used this quote to shut people up? As a bipolar women, people tend to stigmatize that I'm constantly crazy. People called Luna Looney and look at her? She's a badass that fought death eaters at fourteen. C'mon.

"Have a biscuit, Potter." -Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall as whole is just someone I strive to be. So this quote is just for showing how much I love her as a character and how much sass she and hatred she had for Delores Umbridge.

"It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live." -Albus Dumbledore

A huge thing that I struggle with is dreaming too big and forgetting to live my life that I have now. This quote is always a reminder that although I want to do things with my life I have to live my life now to achieve them. Deep, Albus, Deep.

"After all this time?" "Always." - Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape

God, every time I hear this scene I get goosebumps. It's the iconic part that makes the Harry Potter series the Harry Potter series. Although I am not the biggest fan of Snape, you got to admit this is one of the best lines in the series.

"Give her hell from us Peeves!" - Fred and George Weasley

Ok, ok it looks like I might be off topic here by this quote BUT hear me out. Fred and George are iconic for the fact that although their entire family wanted them to do something else they followed their dreams, pursued it, and had a passion for something that was considered abnormal. They left Hogwarts and preceded to go after that passion anyways. I envy that, in society today most people follow the rules and try to be like each other. I have passions that are considered abnormal and god, I wish I could pursue a career in some of my passions like they did.

"I am what I am, an I'm not ashamed." - Rubeus Hagrid

If Hagrid can accept that he's half-giant, half-wizard in a world full of prejudice about half breeds than I can live accepting being mentally ill in a world that has stigma's against it.

"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love." - Albus Dumbledore

Ok everyone this is my last Albus Dumbledore quote. I actually used this quote during a psych presentation because it's true. You can't live without love, may that be a person, a place, or an animal but either way love is such a beautiful thing and it is truly a pity to live without it.

"The one's that love us never really leave us." -Sirius Black

SOMEONE TATTOO THIS QUOTE ON MY BODY. It's the quote the made me fall in love with the series because at the time I was going through a horrible family issue and this was the one quote that kept me going. It's my most loved quote in the entire world.

"You'll stay with me?" "Until the very end." - Harry Potter and James Potter

I left this one for last because it makes me so emotional. I love this quote being Harry and James because it just shows that even if someone isn't with you physically they will always be by your side until the end emotionally.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
