Texans think very highly of themselves and their state; obviously everything is bigger (and better) here.
Though it's a very large state, everyone can identify with certain things, and when you get down into the cities, there are even more things to identify with.
It's no surprise then that Houston -- which is the biggest city in Texas -- has a lot of things for natives to recognize. From churches to commericials, there's always something that'll remind people where they're from: the greatest city in Texas.
1. Those ridiculous C&D Scrap Metal commercials.
The commercials are always weird, and they'll always let you know you can be paid in $2 bills.
2. Mattress Mack will save you money... Today!
Just reading that, you can hear it in his voice.
3. There's always a gun and knife show going on.
Every weekend, there's one either at the Pasadena convention center or George R. Brown. You can figure out locations when you see the big yellow billboards for it.4. There's always contruction.
When. Will. It. End?
5. Everyone's heard a bunch of rumors about what'll happen to the old Astrodome.
Is it going to be a park? A hotel? What's happening to our 8th wonder of the world?6. Why did Astroworld have to go?
Now we have to go all the way to San Antonio for an amusement park!7. Seeing Joel Osteen's church is crazy.
It's like a church on steroids. I've seen some companies with smaller buildings than his.8. Only smart buyers shop Joe Meyers Toyota.
They also have kooky commercials, but the jingle is what's most memorable.
9. Women love JJ Watt a lot.
How can you not love him though?
10. "I'm Jim Adler, 'The Texas Hammer,' and I'll fight for you!"
If you ever get into a big truck accident, you know who to call.
11. Scott McClelland from H.E.B. is anywhere in Houston at any given time.
He's probably eating lunch somewhere, giving a talk at a school, or working on a new H.E.B. commercial with JJ Watt.
12. Space Center Houston is a one time stop.
It's not nearly as cool as everyone thinks. You look at some rockets, some shuttles, the old control center, and then you say, "Wow, that was a boring hour."13. Hoping to pass St. Joseph's at night.
Everyone wants to be on IH-45 through downtown just to see the giant cross lit up.
14. The Shook family from Fellowship of The Woodlands commercials.
They always had commericals for their next series, and their Easter celebrations looked lit.
15. There's no place like Houston!
It's home to so many people and has such a wide variety of cultures melding together to create one of the best cities. It's one-of-a-kind and will always be the best! What are some of your favorite things about H-town?
