Marching bands come from all over. We experience different uniforms, music, weather conditions, and marching shoes. However, we all can share some of the same experiences when it comes to life as a band member.

1. "One More Time" is NEVER just one more time.

We all know when the director says "One more time," they really mean like 12 more times.

2. Sleeping on the bus? Forget it.

What happens on the band bus, stays on the band bus.

3. Sock. Tans.

Probably the most rewarding tan line you could ever get.

4. Your calf muscles will ROCK by the end of summer.

Backstepping is a tough feat to accomplish, but the result is awesome legs.

5. Water breaks are never long enough.

What? I just sat down and took a sip and it's already time to get back on the field?

6. You always have that one friend that never brings reeds.

If you don't have that friend, you probably are that friend.

7. Sometimes, the director specifically calls you out.

Yes, you in the red shirt with the clarinet. You suck.

8. The drummers are their own breed.

They set themselves apart but never disappoint. The drumline is always front and center.

9. At some point, you give up on sunscreen.

Sure, I'll be a lobster for the rest of my life, no big deal.

10. The fight song is the hype song after every good move by the football team.

If you don't lose your voice at a football game and scream before playing the fight song, what are you doing?

11. Putting on your uniform before a performance is a race against the clock.

You seriously get little to no time to put on your uniform before a performance, and then have to race to get in position.

12. For girls, getting your hair into a helmet, Shako, or Aussie is almost impossible.

Band hats are difficult, especially when you have hair down to the middle of your back that you have to stuff into them.

13. The Spongebob references in band are innumerable.

Where's the leak, ma'am?

14. All of the sections have their own inside jokes and traditions.

Each section is uniquely different in weird and wonderful ways.

15. The friendships and memories you make are unforgettable.

Band is one of the greatest things you can be a part of in your high school and college years. Nothing can compare.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
