If you had any love for the movie, then you already know that the original "High School Musical" turns 10 on Wednesday, Jan. 20. I still have the deluxe edition of both the regular soundtrack and like 3 different karaoke versions, including one where there's a version of "Start of Something New" that only has Troy's vocals so you can be Gabriella. These movies grew up with us and even now still touch us because if you loved Disney Channel back in elementary school, you probably loved these movies too. And even now, there's certain things you do because you know you watched those movies too many times.
1. Anytime you pick up a basketball, you start dribbling to the beat.
"Getcha Head In The Game" is an ear worm. It's not necessarily anyone's favorite song from the first movie, but you still know all the words. You just wished you were cool enough to know that dance.
2. Every New Years Eve is such a let down.
Where's my cute karaoke session with someone who I thought I'd never see again but ends up transferring to my school next semester? And speaking of that scene....
3. It annoys you that they never thanked that guy.
Seriously though. Like he's the whole reason we have a franchise to fangirl over and yet Troy and Gabriella just brush him off like it's no big deal. Give credit where credit is due.
4. You know exactly what table you'd be at in the cafeteria.
Me personally, although I dress like I belong at the skater table, I know I would totally be with the nerds.
5. There's one girl in your school that is Sharpay.
The girl doesn't even have to be a theater nerd. You just know someone who's exactly like that in every extent.
6. "Scream" and "Bet On It" probably summed up your senior year.
In these two songs, Troy is basically every senior struggling with everything that gets thrown at you. Also, can we just appreciate how accurately this GIF represents Troy's solo songs?
7. You probably sang "What Time Is It?" every year on the last day of school.
Let's be real, the most likely time for a bunch of high school kids to break into song is on the last day of school. Not to the extent they do in this song, but it's probably the most realistic song in the entire series.
8. HSM2 set the bar high for future pool parties.
Can't every pool party have Miley Cyrus randomly show up? Or a cool waterfall rock thing? I want to go to a party this cool...
9. And after watching all 3 movies, you wished you went to East High.
I would've been so much skinner if I had to break into song and dance nearly every day. Plus, who doesn't want to just jump around and sing about what's going on?
10. You teared up just a little bit at this scene.
This scene wasn't the characters saying goodbye, it was the cast. Just like the last episode of every other show you love, this hurt too because it meant saying goodbye to characters you grew up with and adored.
11. Troy and Gabriella was the relationship we all wanted, and set way too high standards for high school relationships.
Let's be real, dating in high school will never be like a movie. Unfortunately, Troy and Gabriella didn't stop us from making us dream about having the perfect relationship.
12. And "A Night to Remember" is just everything you wanted prom to be before (and maybe during) high school.
Not that prom wasn't fun, but prom will never be as fun as that number made it to be. Not even the actual prom scene in the movie was as fun as that number to be honest.
13. You re-watched the 3rd one when you were about to graduate.
Most of us were in elementary or middle school when the 3rd one first came out, but once it came our time for senior year, you re-watched it and you finally got what it meant to move on. And like Troy says in his speech,
14. Fourteen may or may not have been your favorite/lucky number for a while.
Troy's basketball jersey is such a huge part of this series, so it became a huge part of every HSM fan's life. We all wanted a Wildcats jersey. Also, yes this was an excuse to put this selfie of Dan Howell in this article.
15. Basically you screamed when you found out about the reunion on Wednesday.
Oh hey, by the way, there's a reunion with the 6 original cast members, besides Zac Efron, on Wednesday. It's real, and it airs on Disney Channel at 8 p.m. Now you can scream too.
