It's the most wonderful time of the year! Who doesn't like to show some Christmas spirit? Here are some of the best things about the holiday season.


1. Christmas songs

Because what gets you in the mood more than singing a Christmas carol? Also to those who listen to Christmas music all year long!

2. Christmas Movies

What's better than sitting in front of a fire sipping some hot chocolate on Christmas eve watching a Christmas movie?

3. Christmas lights

(Only the ending product; when they actually work that is.)

4. Making Christmas cookies


Sugar, spice and everything nice

5. Wearing ugly Christmas sweaters/dressing festive

Who doesn't need a little Christmas spirit? Sparkles always make the holidays a little better!

6. Family time

Family is the best part of Christmas; gathering around sharing memories and remembering the importance of a family and the values you share.

7. Christmas parties

The first Christmas with your very own tree is the very best!

10. Vacation

"Schools out scream and shout." Perhaps this is the best thing about Christmas? Relief of exams being over.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
