The spookiest season is just around the corner: HALLOWEEN! Grab some hot chocolate, snuggle up with a cozy blanket, and fill your October with these 13 Halloween movies! Some are spooky, some are down right scary, and others are just right for a night of family fun.
1. Hocus Pocus (1993)
Spooky, quirky witches? Yes please.
2. Halloweentown (1998)
Debbie Reynolds flying on a broomstick, enough said.
3. Halloween (1978)
It's a classic slasher horror movie. Michael Myers is ICONIC.
4. The Shining (1980)
The Shining is one of my all time favorite movies. It's a Stephen King classic! Jack Nicholson portrays the crazy character of Jack Torrance perfectly! This is a great thriller movie that will leave you on the edge of your seat in suspense.
5. The Sixth Sense (1999)
Another favorite of mine! I am a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan because I am a huge fan of plot twists. M. Night always delivers with a great twisted ending!
6. Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Okay, to be honest, I first watched this movie only because it had Johnny Depp in it and so many other famous actors in the cast. I didn't expect to like it so much! I loved the eerie feeling to it and the overall darkness and peculiarity in the movie that Tim Burton likes to use in most of his films.
7. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Honestly, this movie musical is extremely bizarre. But it still has that spooky setting to it. I mean, it takes place in a creepy mansion, the costumes are VERY odd, and the overall storyline is a tad weird. But who wouldn't want to see Tim Curry doing the 'Time Warp' in drag?
8. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)
Who doesn't LOVE Charlie Brown?! I love every holiday Charlie Brown special. I have to watch each one before the upcoming holiday, no matter how many times I've seen it. It is such a classic little family movie that everyone can enjoy.
9. The Addams Family (1991)
They're creepy and they're kooky. Mysterious and spooky.
10. Casper (1995)
Who says all ghosts are scary and mean? Casper is a fun quirky movie about Casper the loveable ghost who just wants a friend.
11. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Tim Burton is a mastermind with using claymation in several of his movies. What's not love to about a singing skeleton and his ghost dog trying to spread the magic of Christmas to his Halloween town? It's a Halloween movie AND a Christmas movie! And of course, watch the other Tim Burton classics: Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands, and Frankenweenie,
12. It (2017 OR 1990)
13. Beetlejuice (1988)
This spooky retro comedy film, which stars Michael Keaton and a very young Winona Ryder is a Tim Burton classic Halloween film to add to your watchlist!
Happy Halloween witches! Stay SPOOKY!
