It's no doubt that the show that has captured the hearts of millions over the past ten years has given us some of the greatest lessons, whether it'd be about school, relationships, friends, work, or even finding yourself. We have watched the characters go through life's hardest battles of heartbreak, losing loved ones, best friends moving away, plane crashes, car accidents, and jeopardizing their jobs. Despite everything they have all gone through, the characters of Grey's Anatomy come out even stronger and ready to keep fighting whatever life wants to throw at them.
Now, here's what Grey's Anatomy taught me about nursing school...
1. That moment when you realize you have to figure out your game plan of how to survive nursing school, now that you finally got in
2. Non-nursing majors will never completely understand the multiple breakdowns you'll have
3. Having two major exams, four case studies, a 15-page paper due, and two full days of clinicals is a normal week for you
4. There seems to always be a better answer choice than the one you picked on the test, even though your answer is still technically correct
5. There will always be that one person in the class that seems to know the answer to EVERYTHING the professor asks
6. You always feel like there is something to stress about, even if you can't think of it at that moment
7. Despite all of the hardships that nursing school will throw at you, you will still need your person to help you get through it all (no matter how crazy things may get)
8. Even after the dozens of nursing tests, hundreds of clinical hours, and many sleepless nights of studying, you still have no idea what's going on
9. But then you realize you can't let nursing school get the best of you, no matter how often it may suck sometimes
10. Because you are never alone when it comes to surviving
11. You are still the badass that earned that seat in nursing school that so many others were fighting for
12. And only you can make certain that you will be an amazing nurse once you get out and face the real world
Whether you're working to get into nursing school, just got accepted, or are currently studying day and night to survive, just remember the words of Dr. Cristina Yang: “Sometimes the future changes quickly and completely, and we’re left with only the choice of what to do next. We can choose to be afraid of it, to stand there trembling not moving, assuming the worst that can happen, or we step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant.”
