12 Things On Your College Christmas List

Tis the season for giving…and receiving lots of precious, precious presents. When you were little, Christmas was a magical time where Santa could bring any toy, gadget, or gizmo that you could have dreamed of. When you were a teen, Christmas was your opportunity to ask for the latest technology that you couldn’t pay for by yourself. But now that you’re in college and “all grown up,” your list to Santa looks quite different. Here are 12 things you might find on it.

1. Socks

Twelve years ago, you literally would have cried if you unwrapped these. Now you’re more thrilled to see them than Dobby was.

2. Cash

Let’s just skip all the fanfare and ask for what we really want.

3. A Netflix subscription

Mom and Dad have cut you off from your family account, and it is severely impacting your ability to chill.

4. Office supplies

Because boring yet practical stocking stuffers just scream holiday cheer!

5. A new car

Not that this will ever actually happen. Life isn’t like a Honda commercial where a new car with a monstrous red bow is waiting for you out in the driveway. I mean, who can actually afford that on the fly?

6. A boyfriend/girlfriend

Some things even Santa can’t help you with. A free Tinder Plus subscription will have to do.

7. Alcohol

Christmas is all about feeling all warm and fuzzy inside and being happy with those around you, right? This will help.

8. More meal swipes for the dining hall

All I want for Christmas is six lunches per week...

9. A passing GPA

Because finals happened...oh, how they happened.

10. More alcohol

11. A gym membership

Because after following up two weeks of stress eating for finals with two pounds of Christmas cookies, a few miles on the treadmill couldn't hurt.

12. A Tan

You don't care if it's a week in the Bahamas or a gift certificate to the tanning salon, you just need some color.

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.
