The legendary Mom's Weekend is upon us in Pullman. I know my alumni Coug mom and I are excited as I'm sure you and yours are as well. You're definitely going to get some good meals with your mom this weekend, so get the most out of it and check out the great food. The Palouse area has many great restaurants to choose from, especially in Moscow. I'm counting down the best restaurants to take your mom to this Mom's Weekend.

Here are the top 12 restaurants in the Pullman/Moscow area to take your mom this Mom's Weekend:

1. Tapped - Taphouse & Kitchen (Moscow, ID)

Great burgers and fries, along with craft beer and wine. Tapped is a can't miss with a trendy atmosphere

2. La Casa Lopez (Moscow, ID)

Such good Mexican food and drinks. Try the shrimp enchiladas and their mojitos, yum!

3. Birch & Barley (Pullman, WA)

Or as my mom likes to call it, the old Pelican Pete's, which is what it was in the 1980s. Birch & Barley has great food and drinks!

4. South Fork Public House (Pullman, WA)

The guacamole burger is so good here. South Fork has burgers, drinks, and even Cougar Gold mac & cheese.

5. Moscow Alehouse (Moscow, ID)

Another good Moscow restaurant with great burgers drinks and options.

6. Gambino's (Moscow, ID)

Great Italian food on the Palouse. Gambino's has pizzas, calzones, pasta, salads, and the most amazing garlic bread knots.

7. The Breakfast Club (Moscow, ID)

Usually, a long wait but The Breakfast Club has fantastic classic breakfast food along with Mimosas.

8. Porch Light Pizza (Pullman, WA)

A small pizza place that serves gourmet pizzas and salads. They have many options and even vegan cheese.

9. Bloom (Moscow, ID)

Another Moscow breakfast place that definitely compares to The Breakfast Club. Bloom is more hipster-like, they put a modern twist on traditional breakfast food.

10. Moscow Bagel & Deli (Moscow, ID)

If you've never been to Moscow Bagels you have to try it. They have great breakfast bagels along with lunch bagel sandwiches, with a huge menu there are so many options.

11. Zoe Coffee & Kitchen (Pullman, WA)

Sometimes a bit of a wait but well worth it. Zoe is my favorite place to eat in Pullman, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The eggs benedict here is SO good.

12. Sella's (Pullman, WA)

An original calzone place, Sella's is always fresh and a classic Pullman staple. You can even draw a picture here, they have crayons so you can draw on the placemats.

Happy Mom's Weekend, foodies!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
