I definitely see most of these items on the lists consisting of things not to bring to college, but I would have regretted it if I did not bring these things to college with me!

1. Himalayan salt lamp.

It will clear your room of negative ions when it’s on. Honestly, I can’t even tell but it sounds good.

2. Betta fish.

They are so easy to care for and make a cute decoration for your room! The fish also come in so many colors.

3. 10 decorative pillows

Okay, maybe not 10, but it’s so nice to have a bunch of pillows of all different sizes to choose from.

4. Plants.

They make really cute desk decorations! Get a cactus if you're worried about forgetting to water it.

5. All of your shoes.

If you can fit all of your shoes in your closet or under your bed, then why limit yourself? I brought most of my sandals with me and I'm glad I did. Those shoes my mom said I would never wear, I wore.

6. All of your cute t-shirts.

Even if you never wear most of them. All I am going to say is it is nice to have options.

7. Two weeks worth of dishes.

The more dishes you have, the less you have to actually wash dishes.

8. Cute desk decorations.

My desk is filled with little signs and pictures and looks so pretty.

9. Stickers for your laptop.

Trust me, you will want your laptop case covered in Redbubble stickers after seeing everyone else on campus having them!

10. Wall Decorations.

Covering your wall in decorations and signs makes your room look so cute. And, you will get so many compliments.

11. Binders

Most people say they never needed binders in college, but I have found the opposite. Binders help keep me organized!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
