Nutley...the place everyone hates to love. When we're here, all we do is complain. But once we leave, we slowly find ourselves just complaining about how wherever we are - it's not home. And we always say the same things when we're away, too. Here's just a small list of what we always say when we leave Nutley.

1. "...This isn't pizza"

No matter where you go, nothing beats Nutley pizza.

2. "Do you know what I'm craving right now?"

Anything and everything leads to a Diner run...and your order is probably always the same.

3. "I miss not needing Uber..."

When in doubt, everything in Nutley is in walking distance. If you really had to get somewhere without your car, you knew you'd survive.

4. "Do you remember...nevermind."

That's the thing about living in Nutley. Everyone has one thing in common...they're from Nutley. Whenever you need to talk to someone you didn't know well, you could always make a Nutley joke and they'd get it. But once you leave, nobody understands your weird jokes about Al Petracco or your weird memories from elementary school. It kinda sucks.

5. "I swear it happened!"

The things that happen in Nutley cannot be made up. Nutley has had probably the weirdest series of news headlines in just the past few years. It's no wonder why your friends outside of Nutley think it's an entire different world.

6. "So...what's good here?"

In Nutley, you know everything li\ke the back of your hand. The best place to get Italian, pizza, Chinese, bagels, etc...it's not as easy as callng your favorite spot and saying you're ordering 'the usual'.

7. "Nutley is busy...but it's not"

Some days, it feels like Nutley has nothing. It's quiet, and nothings happening. You walk around, you know where everything is, most businesses have been there for years...nothing really changes. Yet, at the same time, there's occassions at all different times of the year. There's a huge event of celebrating being Italian (whether you are or not...you basically are), Christmas festivities, strawberry festival, etc. You love the balance and always talk about the things that make Nutley special.

8. "No really, our snapchat filter says 'The Nut'"

Want to explain Nutley in a nut shell (see what I did there)? Just mention that our snapchat filter says "The Nut". Makes everyone laugh instantly.

9. "I know you wouldn't know... but it SUCKS."

No one understands the struggle of living in Nutley. And even though it's actually not THAT bad, you still love to complain and wish everyone could talk trash with you.

10. "Did I just say... I miss it?"

As much as you complain about the town you probably have been in all your life, you still find yourself missing it. Who would've thought that would happen?

One things for sure, you can take us out of Nutley, but you can't take Nutley out of us.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
