11 Of The Best Breakup Songs You Could Ever Need

One day a few weeks ago, my friends and I compiled a list of our top 11 best breakup songs with the idea it could make a pretty solid article. Here I am to share them with you guys. Disclaimer: I haven't gone through an actual breakup, so it might seem irrelevant that I'm writing this, but I have gone through heartbreak and have definitely screamed along to some of these at some point in my life. Besides, who doesn't want a list of mostly angst filled emo kid songs to refer to when they hate the world?

1. "Fall For You" by Secondhand Serenade

Fall for you has long been mine and my best friend's number one breakup song. In my opinion, Secondhand Serenade is the epitome of emo bands, therefore this song is the best option for when the sads hit and you want to cry alone in your room for awhile. Not only that, it's perfect for when the heartache is fresh and you don't want to let go.

2. "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver

This is another one for when you're still in the depressed phase and want a song to represent your broken heart. It gives that hopeless feeling of not knowing what happened that tugs at your heart strings while also making you want to yell "COME ON SKINNY LOVE JUST LAST A YEAR" at the top of your lungs.

3. "Amnesia" by 5 Seconds of Summer

Continuing the line of the depression phase, this is a song you can blast when you feel like the other person is moving on and seems to be okay while you might still feel like your whole world crashed down around you. You're not okay and you're not fine and you don't understand why the other person isn't hurting like you are. 5sos has your back.

4. "Bruised and Scarred" by Mayday Parade

This is another one for when you don't want to let go. You're asking them if this is really what they want and you're broken, but you're trying to put on a front. You really believed you had found your one.

5. "I Miss You" by Blink 182

The title is pretty self-explanatory.

6. "Someone Like You" by Adele

This is for those times when you can admit you just want what is best for the other person and it may not be you, but that thought feels like a thousand knives carving into your chest.

7. "I Don't Love You" by My Chemical Romance

This is for when you're starting to transition into the resentment and anger stage. MCR is excellent for your angst filled needs and even though you're still sad, when you think about that person coming back to you there's a bitterness to it. You're sick of feeling so beaten down.

8. "Thanks for the Memories" by Fall Out Boy

This may not immediately seem like a breakup song, but I think it's perfect for that transition period where you're looking back and thinking maybe everything wasn't as good as you thought.

9. "Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass" by All Time Low

This goes out to when you start hitting that phase where you're super angry and bitter and you want to slash some tires.

10. "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood

Maybe you weren't actually cheated on, or maybe you were, but this is definitely for when you really do want to go out and key their car and slash their tires.

11. "Gives You Hell" by The All American Rejects

Last but not least, the greatest song for your angry phase. You want to prove that you're fine and they can't hurt you anymore. You want to run into them and show them how much better off you are. You're at the height of your bitterness but you also know you don't need that person anymore.

There you have it: 11 of what I think are the greatest breakup songs to fit all of your needs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
