I love driving a manual, and I don't want to drive another automatic. I've been driving one for a little over two years, and I couldn't imagine it any other way. If you've ever driven a stick, you definitely know all of these are true.
1. Your left leg is much stronger than your right.
Makes sense, right? You constantly have to push in the clutch, but it's all good. #gains.
2. You try to avoid stopping on a hill because that's literally hell.
It's not as bad once you get used to driving it, but it always scared me when I first started to drive it. I did everything I could to avoid them, but sometimes they're still a struggle.
3. You don't know what to do with your right hand when you drive an automatic.
It's kind of boring. Plus your hand is just awkward. Like, where are you supposed to put it now?
4. Driving and eating are almost impossible.
I still haven't mastered this, and it has been over two years. Your hands are usually busy, so yeah. Good luck.
5. Everyone asks, "You drive a stick/manual?"
Yes, yes I do. Since I'm younger and a girl, I feel like I get asked this a little more than most, but I do get asked quite often.
6. You've sat through at least one light because you stalled and couldn't get the car to start quick enough.
It's even worse when there are other cars behind you. It's so embarrassing, but ya live and ya learn.
7. Traffic is your worst enemy.
Talk about a workout. It's almost as bad as the hills.
8. You've taught at least one person how to drive one.
Yep, and you deal with the constant stalling and the rocking. It's OK though because you were once there before, too.
9. If you're young, very few of your friends know how to drive a stick.
Out of the people I usually hang out with, only two of us know how to drive one. They're just not as common nowadays.
10. You get super annoyed when people get really close to you on a hill.
If you roll into them, oh well. You shouldn't have been so close. #sorrynotsorry
11. You never want to own an automatic again.
When I first started learned how to drive a stick, I hated every second of it. I never wanted to drive anywhere, but that quickly changed once I got used to driving it.
Side note: The "Fast & Furious" series exaggerates this way too much with like 15+ gears.
