11 Things I Wish I Realized In High School
Caitlin Lawler

Your teenage years is one horrible time, from braces, pimples, puberty and those awkward stages it was terrible. Luckily you grow up and look back on those days and laugh "why would I ever wear that?" But you are young and naive then this is 11 things I wish I could've realized back then.

1. Wearing Brand Named clothing doesn't make you "cool"

Every day I would wear my brand named clothing to school to show off that I had cool clothing or I was fashion in hopes to get peoples attention... by the way no one ever cared.

2. Money doesn't buy friends

This one girl was so rich in High School had the coolest clothing, purses, makeup and got a car for her Sweet 16. Everyone wanted to be her friend. Not because of her personality, because of her money and I was so jealous. Once we graduated high school everyone forgot who she was.

3. Your High School grades actually matter

I did not try in high school at all... when it come to picking colleges I only got into 3 and they were all schools that basically had a 99 percentage rate of getting accepted. So I went to this terrible school my freshman year to realize I needed to do well in order to transfer to a better school... lesson learned: I should've tried harder in high school.

4) Wearing eyeliner on your waterline is not cute

Do I need to say more

5) Being "popular" in high school means nothing in college

No one cares who you were in high school, Don't come into college thinking everyone is going to faun over you

6) Calling my self "fat"

I used to think so poorly of my body and I look back to photos now to realize I was never fat I was just dramatic

7) Doing your hair and makeup every day isn't a thing in college

No one cares what you look like for class you are there to learn. I used to cake on the makeup everyday just so people thought I was pretty.

8) Wearing a bombshell push up bra is very noticeable.

You can't go into class one day in a tight fitted shirt with bee stings on your chest, then the next day with mountains on your chest...Its noticeable

9) Everyone has pimples

Putting on more and more makeup I looked more like a cake then a person, and putting on that much makeup everyday made my acne worse.

10) Don't change your style to fit in

I would make my mom spend so much money on clothing for it to be out of style within a week "But 'so and so' has that shirt I need to have that shirt it will make me popular"

11) Be thankful that you now realize once you get to College, who you were in high school doesn't matter

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
