Unless you've been living under a rock for the last year, you've probably heard of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. Everyone I've met who has watched is is completely obsessed (myself included) with this sci-fi/horror/government conspiracy show. Maybe it's the fact that it's set in 1983-1984, or maybe it's just the really cute kids that star in it, but everyone loves it. Tons of people spent a whole year waiting anxiously for the release of season 2 this past Friday.
So far, everyone I've talked to is in agreement: it did not disappoint. Stranger Things Season 2 is just as beyond amazing as Season 1. Not only did it fill in some plot holes (Lucas and Dustin do have families that care about them), but it also had tons of amazingly sweet scenes. Here are 11 (see what I did there?) of the best moments from the new season:
WARNING: MANY MANY MANY SPOILERS AHEAD.
1. When the moms get obsessive with the Halloween pictures
If this didn't warm your heart and make you laugh at the same time, I'm questioning and judging you.
2. When Dustin accidentally formed a bond with a baby Demogorgon with 3 Musketeers
I don't know where this one came from, but major points to the Duffer Brothers for including it.
3. When you realize that Hopper has basically adopted Eleven
GUYS. MY HEART. IT'S SO HAPPY IT HURTS. (And also the curly hair and overalls look!)
4. When Steve Harrington turns into the coolest cool kid ever
Steve Harrington had it all until his drunk girlfriend basically told him that she didn't love him. So what does Steve do? First, he buys her flowers (that he never gets to give her). Second, he teams up with her little brother's best friends to help save the world (and do some major confidence-boosting at the same time).
5. When you realize that Nancy and Steve have dinner with Barb's parents
Honestly, Steve Harrington was a waaaaay better boyfriend than I expected him to be. This was just one of many of his great moments. And also, #JusticeforBarb.
6. When Hopper and Eleven are cleaning up the cabin
If you tell me that this scene isn't precious, we can't be friends. Hopper dancing around and being happy and Eleven finally feeling like she is home are two of the best things in this entire season.
7. When Bob becomes "Bob Newby, superhero"
Okay, I can't lie here, I didn't like Bob at first. I ship Joyce and Hopper way too much to have been on board with this, but anyone who can a) put up with the insanity that is the Byers family and b) learn about a massive government cover-up involving another dimension with aggressive, murderous monsters and still be chill is a pretty cool dude. And let's not forget that he sacrificed himself for all of the others he was with. Poor, sweet Bob. He had really grown on me. No one deserves to die by Demogorgon. Rest in peace, Bob.
8. When Nancy and Jonathan finally kiss
While I like Steve a lot better, I think him and Nancy are both better people when they're not together. Plus, this has been a long time coming, so it was nice to just get it finished with.
9. When Hopper and Eleven are on the way to close the gate
Y'all. THIS SCENE WAS MY LIFE. Hopper and El have such a special bond and honestly, seeing how much he cares about her hit me with more feels than I can possibly explain. Brb, crying. (GIF of Eleven is my actual emotion while watching this scene)
10. When Nancy dances with Dustin
Maybe it's just because I love Dustin so much, but this was one of my very favorite moments of the season. Poor, sweet little Dustin is literally crying alone on the bleachers, but then Nancy rescues him, makes him look super cool, and cheers him up all in one go.
11. When Mike and Eleven finally see each other and then she shows up at the Snow Ball
I was mad about how long I had to wait for this to happen, but then it happened and honestly, I'm so glad they made us wait until so late in the season because it was wonderful and perfect and everything I never knew I needed in my life. I actually cried when El walked into the Snow Ball. The look on Mike's face was absolutely perfect (almost as perfect as Eleven's hair in this scene)!
