Sometimes, the world weighs down on us and it is hard to get out of a bad mood. Movies are the perfect escape from reality and can lift us out of a gloomy mood and inspire us to get out there and achieve our dreams. Movies can touch us at the deepest points of our being. "Erin Brokovich" is a true story about Erin, a single mother of three kids. She is having a tough go at life until she gets offered the opportunity to work at a law firm in the office doing certain secretarial duties. Erin takes matters into her own hands like a boss. She gets on a case about contaminated water and moves up the ranks quickly in the office - all while raising three kids. This story is how a woman with no money became a successful woman all on her own. This inspiring movie is about strength and perseverance. Whenever you feel like you are hitting rock bottom; this movie will surely help you out of your funk.
10.) "Philadelphia"
"Philadelphia" is probably one of the most upsetting movies of all time. Tom Hanks plays the lead role Andy, who looses his job because he is diagnosed with AIDS. We watch as the helpless Hanks battles the injustice as he slowly deteriorates. As sad and as tragic as the movie is, we see a weak man still fight for his human rights, and he does end up winning that fight. This movie is inspiring because it will make you want to fight for what is lawfully and morally right.

This heartbreaking movie is about a young boy who is born with dwarfism. This movie follows him through his childhood, his friends and his family life. It shows the struggles that he endures every single day. This movie is inspirational because it teaches you to appreciate everyone; no matter what they are like. This movie is also inspirational because it teaches you to be kind to others and be strong and happy in the face of adversity.
8.) "A League of Their Own"
This movie is inspiring to people of all ages. It's a story about women's baseball has inspired me to play sports ever since I was a child. This movie is wonderful because it depicts sexism without holding back. This movie is inspirational because it shows that women can do anything and when joined together; a team of women can be unstoppable.
7.) "Lee Daniel's: The Butler"
This drama about a former slave who works his way into working at the White House takes the audience on an exploration into the deep hatred that has resided in the United States against minorities. This movie is inspirational because at the beginning you see slavery and at the end of the movie, the election of Barack Obama is on. There is nothing more inspirational than progress.
6.) "Forrest Gump"
This classic story has so many plots interwoven into it. This movie takes the audience on a history lesson spanning decades, while also dealing with death, war, drug use and friendship. This movie is inspirational because the protagonist Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks shows us that sometimes we just need to believe in ourselves; that is enough to be successful.
5.) "Miracle"
This hockey movie based off of the Olympic win in the 1980s winter Olympics. The United States beat the Soviet Union. This movie is based on a true story and it is inspirational because you see where hard work and hope can get you: the Olympics. The scene where the coach makes the team continue to drill far after the lights in the rink were turned off is inspirational to athletes everywhere.
4.) "Mulan"
This animated Disney classic can teleport anyone back to their childhood. This movie is about Mulan, a girl who goes into war for her father, in his place and against his will. She ends up saving China and gets married. She is seriously the most inspirational female of all time.
3.) "Remember The Titans"
This classic film depicts the trials and triumphs of football and of racism. This movie shows the dangers of racism and how it can affect people. It also shows how the team grows together when racial barriers were broken down. This movie is inspirational because it can inspire anyone to change their hateful ways to create a world full of peace.
2.) "Sing Street"
This movie about poor Irish teens in the 1980s who form a band doesn't sound too inspirational. You have to look close for this one. This movie depicts teenagers overcoming divorce and money problems. These teens shut down adversity and bullies and fulfill their dreams of being in a good band. If that isn't inspirational I don't know what is.
1.) "Slumdog Millionaire"
This movie is about beating the odds, and beating poverty and a terrible Caste system. This movie is about finding love, losing it, and going on the search for it again. It is also about how paying attention to life can help you. This movie is inspirational because if the protagonist in this movie can become successful, anyone can. He had the odds against him the whole entire movie.
