Summer is right around the corner! If you and your family don't have any vacation plans, don't fret! Here are some quick and easy things you can do with your family and friends that won't break the bank!

1. Learn to Cook

Impress your family and yourself! Nothing beats good food, and food tastes a tiny bit better when you're the one who made it.

2. Go Out to Eat

Another food-related option, but this one never fails. If you are in a big city like New York, there always seems to be a new restaurant opening up.

3. Visit a Bookstore

If you haven't picked up a book since middle school, now would be a good time to start again! Dive into a mystery or travel through an adventure. You don't necessarily have to buy a book, but you'll stay out of the summer heat!

4. Volunteer

Go alone or do it with friends. Do good for the community. Get a free t-shirt. Meet new people. It's a win-win-win.

5. Find a new hobby.

Look for something that you never thought of doing that interests you. From archery to kayaking, most cities offer classes to work on your craft.

6. Pick Up an Instrument

I'll be the first to admit that my guitar is still in a closet, but yours doesn't have to be! Also, considering practicing and trying out for the school band if you aren't part of it already.

7. Visit a Museum

Most museums offer free days or offer student discounts with an ID. Learn a fact or two while staying out of the sun.

8. Go to the Park or the Beach

Meanwhile, if you're the outdoorsy type who doesn't mind the heat, go out to the park or the beach. Using a bicycle is a plus.

9. Reach Out to Someone You Haven't Spoken to in Awhile

This honestly depends on the status of your relationship with one another, but if you have a little free time, try reaching out to someone. Who knows, you might rekindle an old flame!

10. Go Bowling

Bowling is a fun, easy and cheap way to kill time. Just don't be this guy.

11. Go to a Spa

This wasn't my suggestion but rather a friend's. I've never been to one before, but they're supposedly really relaxing.

The important part is to take advantage of every day and take a break from your phone/computer/TV/video games. September will be here before you know it!
