10 Things You Only Understand If You Are Ridiculously Competitive
Matt Lee

Everyone has a little of competitiveness in them, but some just can't contain their undying need to win.

1. You get in competitions with people they don't even know about

You have definitely decided that you won in a situation that no one else knew was a competition, such as a breakup or getting a better grade on a test than your friend.

2. Sports are a dangerous game

When you're overly competitive, playing a sport, even if it is just in the yard, can get a bit intense.

3. You have an arch-nemesis

Every overly competitive person has that one person they are constantly in competition with. Whether it be a person on an opposite sports team or even someone in your same major, you seek to beat them at everything.

4. Video games are a no-go

A side of you comes out during Mario Kart that no one should ever have to see.

5. Board games are also a no-go

You actually thought you could play a game of Monopoly without absolutely losing your mind when you ran out of money?

6. Driving can randomly become an extreme sport

You have definitely had an urge to race the car next to you for no good reason, even if the poor soul doesn't know they are about to get absolutely dusted by you.

7. Meeting someone somewhere is also a competition

Are you meeting your friend at dinner? You best believe you are going to get there before them just to say you beat them, even if you are a person that constantly runs late.

8. You have an undying need to be right

Unfortunately, the competitiveness often seeps into debates, and you will go to extreme lengths to prove you are right about something.

9. You seek to be the best sibling in the family

You love your siblings with all of your heart, but there is something so satisfying about your parents wanting them to be more like you in a certain aspect.

10. You push yourself, too

You're not only in a constant competition with others, but you push yourself to be better than you were the day before. Whether it's physically or mentally, you're pushing yourself to get better grades, workout more or just be better overall.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
